"When in fact there are over 600 writings (records, census, court records, and news accounts of the times) that witness to the fact that he did exist and did do these miracles that have absolutely nothing to do with God or religion... "
Start listing them.

It's hard to get 100 % agreement on anything. Would you settle for 99 % of people whose opinions mean anything? (e.g. scholars and historians of the subject) Of the several best-known skeptics of Jesus's existence, two are New Age authors, one has since changed his mind, and one is a classicist by training.
Why would an atheist accept that Jesus was a historical figure? Because if Jesus hadn't really existed, then they would have told the story in a different way. He wouldn't have been executed at the end, for example, and he wouldn't have gone to John to be baptized (as though he had sins which needed forgiving). The presence of these embarrassing details are our best guarantee that Jesus actually existed.

I think he existed, as a normal man and religious speaker.
What came after the Roman empire pieced together the Bible and created propaganda in the name of Christianity is complete myth. No rising from the dead, going into the clouds, etc.
It is hard to separate the fables from evidence that the guy existed, because the religion is very convoluted and widespread. I have no idea if most of the phrases in the bible can even be attributed to him, in the same way that scholars debate on the views of Confucius, which led to different schools of study.

There is no principle involved. A thorough examination of archaelogical evidence and historical documentation reveals that there is no credible evidence to demonstrate that Jesus was a historical person. Therefore, if he isn't a historical person, what's left? That's right...Jesus is just another dead and resurrecting hero myth like Tammuz, Attis, Osirus, etc.

While most atheists will allow for the possibility that Jesus, the man, existed, they will all agree on the simple principle that he was not a god.
The dichotomy you see is more a matter of your perception than of fact.

Considering it was 2000 years ago the principle isn't so simple. The main source is biased and its been so long that its hard to find anything to prove he lived.
I have no idea one way or the other. I admit I haven't really read up on it.

Because "we people" aren't a unified whole anymore than "you believers" are... just as Catholics and Protestants have major disagreements, so do us folks in the non-believing community. I personally am convinced that Jesus never lived, but if my Atheist buddy thinks otherwise, what do you want me to do, put a gun to his head? Not everybody comes to the truth at the same time...

I agree with you that Christ was not a myth. I have prayed to him in great need and my prayers were answered. I just find it so tiresome that people want to ask so many questions about the existence of God/Jesus and that little fool of a teenager Miley Cyrus I could scream..

There is absolutely no doubt a man named Jesus existed. He called himself the Messiah, the Christ, God. Everyone who knew him said the same after watching him and hearing him speak. He is written about in both the Christian texts and secular history. Overwhelming evidence he existed.
The debate is over whether he was who he claimed to be. He certainly left no doubt about that with the people he came in contact with. Enough that they died for their belief in him. Enough that men die today for him.
No other man in history had that power. The grave is empty. Next time you see him, you'll know with certainty that he was who he claimed to be.
