I'm wondering, because I've been feeling like the Army is my calling for a long time..Like since I was 13.
I'm now 17 and seriously considering enlisting shortly after my 18th birthday.
My cousin was in the USMC, and he said that he thinks it's smart for me to go into the Army if I feel strongly that I want to enlist in the Military.
He warned me that, even if I go into the Reserves, I'll probably be called to active duty shortly, and I'll have to go to the Middle East, most likely.
So, do you think that the Army is a good branch for me to go into?

Well, I kind of want to be in with the action.
If I die, I wouldn't be afraid because I know that I'd die for a great reason.
And I kind of want to be able to talk to some of those people who diss the troops, saying that our troop's efforts in the Middle East are all for naught, and tell them that there's a real good place for all those ideas they have, and it's not a pleasant place.

I've been serving in the Army for 13 years. There are still jobs that are closed to women in the army but each year they open more and more.
When I was thinking about joining in I knew I wanted to go into the Army or the Marine Corps. I did a little research and found I had more options as a woman in Army. I've been to some really amazing schools, been to amazing places, and have had a great career to date.
I suggest you do some research as well. As stated earlier, If you join the Army or the USMC you're going to live a less than glamourous life. Life will be pretty easy in the Air Force. If you enjoy being on the water join the Navy.

From one girl to another, i can tell you this, I enlisted into the USMC, and it seems like EVERYONE has something negative to say about it. Whatever branch you want to join make sure that it's the branch for you , the Marines have called my attention since i was little, and I decided to follow my dreams. Sure there are alot of Stupid Stupid Stupid people who will tell you **** like "If you want to go to iraq and die then go ahead and join (military branch)" don't listen to those people, yes, flat out honestly there might be a chance you'll go to iraq ... so what? doesn't mean you'll die.. ignore those people , just follow your heart! If you feel the Army is for you , then join and be "Army Strong"

All military services are good. What do you want to do in the military. If it is anything to do with flying then the Air Force is probably better. If it is to do with big ships then the Navy is your calling. Lifesaving and small boats then it is the Coast Guard. If combat is what you want then the Army or Marine Corps is the way to go.

Go for the Air Force, as far as I know it involves handling technology and they have pretty interesting fields you can get special training. That doesn't mean you won't be able to go on battlefield, because in the military you never know,but at least you'll learn pretty interesting things while being an airmen.

If you want to go to Iraq join the Army. They are really desperate for people. I'd recommend the Air Force if you really want to join the military. The bases are nicer, deployments are usually shorter and usually farther away from the action.

If you are serious about seeing action, then I suggest the Marines or Army as a MP. Good luck, a lot of females (and males) wash-out of those trainings.

i know almost nothing about you. I just want to say good luck and follow your dream. I too want to enlist. but I'm enlisting in the Navy.
Just be sure you are physically ready to take on the 110+ degree weather. the lack of sleep and basic necessities. Make sure you know what you want.
