I'm 18 years old and work for a luxury hotel. I'm only here about 6 weeks and will have made about $1500 when I finish. About 20% of my wages are taken out as taxes on my paycheck. On the stub it says FIT, FICA, ST CA, and CA SDI. Will I be eligible to file for some kind of refund later in the year?

You will need to file your income tax return for 2007. You can file Form 1040-EZ and CA Form 540 2EZ after you receive form W2 from your employer. W2 has information about your total income for the year 2007 and amounts of various taxes deducted.

You will get a refund for the Federal income tax and State income tax paid by you.

Yes. If you only make $1500 for the year, you'll get all of your Federal Income Tax withholding back if you file a return. You might or might not get some of the CA income tax back. You won't get the FICA of CA SDI back.

You should file Form 1040EZ claiming zero exemptions when you get your W-2 in January
