you can start as a volunteer, most vets offices are looking for volunteers , while you may get paid nothing or next to nothing, but it will help you get a foot in. often theres alot of clean up of animals involved- and it may not be the cleanest experience but it will get you familiar with the field, and without schooling and experience thats probley the best you are going to get for a while. If you do well - most offices will offer you a permanant position.

Do you have a pet? Make appointment(s) for your pet and be visible in the office. Let them know that you want to be a vet someday. Ask them if you could volunteer or work part time. Seeing you on a regular basis will help them feel like they already know you. This will make them more likely to hire you. My niece got a job at a vet this way. I think that she volunteered when she was younger, though.

start by volunteering at an animal rescue group to learn about pets, how to groom, etc. read all the books you can. offer to work at a vet clinic for a week with NO pay to show them you can do it!

Volunteer at your local animal shelter, or ASPCA or SPCA, depending on which one is in your city.
