I have noticed several times that if a person asks an emotional question on sensitive issues like race, abortion, etiquette etc.. if the person who asks this question is a good-looking & good-natured woman who means no harm, then people are ready to go ballistic and rude on her because they don't agree with her point of view.

HOWEVER, if the questioner is like the tough & no-bull type of guy, then the responses all seem to be in line & no one dares to raise their emotion towards the person.

Why does this happen on public boards like Y!A? Why do people like to let out their rage on innocent people & their answers normally get more thumbs-ups than thumbs-downs?

Because the internet is full of cowards, who can't talk that way to people in the real world, so they come on these type of sites to bash people. They get some sort of surreal sense of confidence by bringing other people down. Don't pay attention to them, just remember that you have a normal life and a normal point of view on life, they dont.

There are unfortunately too many callous, outspoken, thoughtless people, who simply put, don't really care how others perceive them or how they treat others. These people lack compassion & empathy. They see answers as a way of asserting their own aggression on others, who are strangers to them. It doesn't matter if they hurt someone elses feelings. They simply just do not care & their conscience isn't bothering them the way it might if they were face to face with the person they were lashing out at.

Or perhaps they are just bullies in real life & they have fun now that they have more people to bully.

Perhaps they are more intimidated when they see a male avatar & therefore less apt to attempt intimidation.

Perhaps they fear that if they verbally attack another man on Answers that he will find someway of tracking him down & physically confront him.

Basically those, who spend time be-littling others anonymously on Answers are either cowards in real life or extremists & radicals looking for trouble & see this as another outlet.

Of course none of us can really be certain, unless we decide to privately investigate the offenders.

Until then all any of us can do is speculate. It's probably better to ignore them.

Since most people use the generic Yahoo! avatars, pictures of their pets, of stars, etc. I fail to see how you came up with the hypothesis that "good-looking, good-natured women" get ruder answers.

Maybe if some people didn't act like they knew everything about you from the one question you asked and being holier-than-thou, then there would be less people going "ballistic" around here.

I think it's because there are a lot of young, immature people on here who find it funny. I really believe that some of the questions on here are very serious to those people and the answers they get might affect them deeply. So I think unless you are willing to answer a question properly and with consideration, don't answer at all. It's too bad that some people take everything as a joke. Maybe they are too stupid to answer the question intelligently and resort to that type of behaviour?

Cause its like a bully looking for that kid in school he can pick on. Do you really think the bully wants a fight. No, he's gonna go to someone he THINKS he or she can take down. A guy like me, talking bout business. Do you really think anyone would give me a chance when it comes down to profit in a workplace. They look at me, and say, "I got this guy" Thats when I come out with a Left hook they didn't see coming, and they find out I do know what I'm talking about. They will either get defensive, or back off. This is my opinion on your question.

I agree with you strongly. That's why I try my best to help such women who are subject to such out-of-context, uncaring, harsh emotional responses. Also there are several users, like "Bill N" for instance who are more than trigger-happy to just say "get a life" or "get over it". They should learn some etiquette about posting in a discussion board

I've noticed that, too & I ask SEVERAL questions pertaining to this SAME subject. I also hate how people try to judge you based on 1 question. I asked a question based on how to improve my mental health, & 1 lady called me narcissistic, rather than telling me how I can change. I know I'm not narcissistic.

because people sometimes act like a pack of dogs. They follow the alpha male mentality and all start ganging up on one person. You're right about some rude people on here, though. It's not just enough to disagree with someone; they feel they've got to insult you, too.

i havent noticed but today i watched as a bunch of people walked up to this store that was closed early and people didnt know. when they returned to their cars after finding out the store was closed they only told attractive people walking towards the store's doors that it was closed...all of the "less attractive" people had to find out for themselves.

aint that messed up?

I guess attractive people have it hard on Yahoo Answers! but easier in the real world.

Good lord, do they really??

I just read the responses and deal with them accordingly.

I'm an equal opportunist when giving my two cents worth.....after all, who knows what the other person really looks like??
