Ill breeding and lack of respect for their fellow man. I am sure that some were taught hate from parents who were ignorant, but unless they are a youngster who has no business on a forum of this type, they should have grown up in spite of any improper upbringing and taken responsibility for their own actions. Some of the hateful comments on here have made me wonder just how many people feel that type of rage, but are too cowardly to express their feelings without the cover of anonymity.

It really does get brutal. Some say they are trying to convert others, but it's so mean it's more like taking hostages. They can only feel right if they can find a perceived flaw in your belief system. Religion in the hands of some is the biggest blasphemy of all. I don't think they know what they do!

Some people enjoy causeing pain to others with their answers. Although I do not agree with many posters opinions as I am not either Christian or Atheist, I do try to keep my words mild.
Some people would call my views as a Hellenic Pagan "hateful" to Fundamentalists (of any religion), those I cannot help.....

I think it's because some people become defensive when someone else questions their beliefs and/or opinions. However, I don't feel that it solves anything by arguing and being rude over a dispute. I think the best way to handle it is by saying, "Well, you have your beliefs and I have mine." Because if one responds with hostility, the conversation usually ends up escalating.

Strong opinions and closed mindedness. Individuals that are too ignorant (or just too stubborn) to have a civilized debate turn to name calling. These poor individuals pass up the opportunity to learn (or even try to understand) a different point of view out of sheer stubbornness...I am right no matter what and you are wrong no matter what. It really is quite sad.

there is'nt any hate, only fear of the unknown.
Must elaborate, its fear of the unknown that drives us all to look for answers, some look at religion, some look at science. Both have been brutal in the past.

Well, it's easy, really. Some people believe in God, some don't. Those that do believe truly think they know whassup, and ridicule/pity/condemn/belittle those who don't agree. Those that don't believe in God can't understand or agree with why believers believe, and tend to use dark humor to belittle their opponents.

I believe there is lack of love and caring in their life so they tend to rebel and hate others also.
