In the beginning there was only god

and god looked within him/her/itself and there we were
so we were the first creation - all of us
and we were sent forth to make of god what we will

but the only material to make anything out of is God
so yes everything is god

but god is even more than the totalness of what has been made
because in future there will be more creations that now are only potential
so god is indeed the Universe
but more than the Universe also

All the manifestations that we see, and everything that exists in both this material world and in the spiritual world, is resting on the energy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The creation takes place by the diffusion of His different energies; and, as is stated in The Bhagavad Gita, He is everywhere present by His Personal representation, this diffusion of energies.
That God is the universe? Yes, and also God is not the universe, because it’s His energy and He’s nondifferent from His energy.
The example is often given of the sun and the sun's rays. The sunshine is nothing but an expansion of the sun globe, and therefore there is no qualitative difference between the sun and its rays. But although the sunshine is situated everywhere and although everything is a transformation of the sun's energy, the sun globe itself, the source of the sunshine, is not everywhere, but is situated in a particular place in the vast sky and has its own specific form.

We'll never know anything about the Universe except through pictures and "Flying cameras" in space. We are too stupid to effectively explore space. What a scientist tells you come from snap shots, and we all know a picture says a thousand words.

Hi, Milani,

God certainly created the universe. But IS God the universe?

The problem with this view is the reality of evil. There are those who commit cruelty and treachery, who rape children, who commit genocide. Can they be good?

If we understand God to be utterly good, we must reject the view that he is the universe.

Cheers,
Bruce

God created, not is. There is a HUGE difference.

However, that is only stating my belief. Not knowing what you believe, it is impossible for me to say you are right or wrong (according to your beliefs).
