Matthew 24 is a prophetic chapter. Verses 1&2 were fulfilled when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem in 70A.D.Verses 4-14 concern the time from the destruction of Jerusalem up until the return of Christ, including the present. Verses 15-28 are about the future, after the return of Christ. Verses 29 to the end of the chapter are about the last days.Matthew 24 has been, is being and will be realized completely.

I read this site answer. What a mess. There are two fulfillments of prophesy. The ancient one about the destruction of Jerusalem a little over 30 years afterward. The latter, larger fulfillment is today's end of this wicked system of things. Individually, all these things have been going on throughout history, with the exception of the preaching work being done throughout the inhabited earth. It is the shear volume of increase of occurrences that is different.

By 70CE, faithful Christians had seen the disgusting thing in the temple. It was Roman soldiers killing Jews in the temple courtyard. True Christians then obeyed Jesus in fleeing to the mountains without stopping to pack. They stayed alive because of heeding Jesus' words. Those that did not got to participate from the wrong end in the greatest Jewish slaughter next to the Holocaust.

Today we face a similar fulfillment as this old wicked system draws to a close. In addition to wars, natural disasters, corruption on an unbelievable scale, etc., the good news of God's Kingdom as the cure for what ails us IS being preached into every corner of the earth. Imagine this old corrupt system replaced by God's Kingdom government! We could not hope for better.
