No, Atheism, as a philosophical view, is the position that either affirms the nonexistence of gods[1] or rejects theism.[2] When defined more broadly, atheism is the absence of belief in deities,[3] alternatively called nontheism.[4] Although atheists are commonly assumed to be irreligious, some religions have been characterized as atheistic because of their lack of belief in a personal god.

"If atheism is a religion, then: Silence is a language. Dead is a state of mind. Hunger is a gourmet meal. Health is a disease. Bald is a hair colour."

Actually, it is so...The great avatar Ramakrishna Paramahansa once said there is a legitimate stage on the path of religious development where the seeker does not admit the existence of God.

No because it does not have laws or books or anything of the sort that people have to follow in order to be athiests.
However, atheism is a stance when it comes to the existence or a non existence of God.
Hence, its fuelled by disbelief, and not reason.
Hence, its the faith that God does not exist, and putting ones faith into other things except God.
Hence, it is a faith of sorts because it isnt neutral, especially when it comes to god.

They worship at the feet of self, science, nature, education, humanity - yeah, seems like a religion.

atheism (note small "a") is the absence of a belief in a god. Sounds more like the absence of religion.
I'll have a Bud Light, please!
