Alma 63 versus 5-7
5 And it came to pass that Hagoth, he being an aexceedingly curious man, therefore he went forth and built him an exceedingly large ship, on the borders of the land bBountiful, by the land Desolation, and launched it forth into the west sea, by the cnarrow neck which led into the land northward.
6 And behold, there were many of the Nephites who did enter therein and did sail forth with much provisions, and also many women and children; and they took their course northward. And thus ended the thirty and seventh year.
7 And in the thirty and eighth year, this man built aother ships. And the first ship did also return, and many more people did enter into it; and they also took much provisions, and set out again to the land northward.
IF NOT TRUE THEN WHY DO THE COOK ISLAND AND NEW ZEALAND MAORI, TONGANS, SAMOANS, AND HAWAIIANS KNOW THIS MAN HAGOTH AS THE PERSON WHO TOOK THEM TO WHERE THEY ARE?
YOU WANT EVIDENCE THERE THERE IT IS!!!

Clearly the uneducated below have never read Thor Hyerdahls books, Kon Tiki and The Ra.
Clearly they know NOTHING about the Pacific Ocean Currents.
I guess it is ignorant to think that those who make claims like some of the ones below who have their own research done to support their claims.
How is it that the people on these Islands listed have the Mitichondrial DNA from Israel?
Yeah sure YOU GUYS HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT.

Since Mormons are not Christians in your book, I have to ask you guys if you can provide me with DNA proof that Jesus is the Son of God, I also want DNA evidence that Jesus ever exsisted, and I would like you to show DNA evidence that you have been Born Again... I mean after all you have told your Mother she didn't do it right the first time.

I have read both of the books by Thor Hyerdahl, Kon Tiki and The Ra Expeditions. They are both excellent in that The Ra Expeditions shows that people could have traveled from the Middle East to the Americas. THey do really help to prove the Church. Thank you for sharing with others who do not share the love of learning and reading.

Why would this support the book of Mormon? Mormonism doesn't even deal with this kind of thing! The book of Mormon deals with the America's. Furthermore, this falls under the category of "The Fallacy of Irrelevance": When you introduce issues which have no logical bearing on the subject under discussion, you are using irrelevant arguments. Let me explain: Mormons argue that the book of Mormon is from God because it contains some historically or scientifically accurate statements. This argument is irrelevant. Just because a book is correct on some historical or scientific point does not mean it is inspired. You cannot take the attributes of a part and apply it to the whole. A book can be a mixture of true and false statements. Thus it is a logical fallacy to argue that Mormonism is true if it makes one true statement. When a Mormon argues that history or science "proves" Mormonism, this actually means that he is acknowledging that history and science can likewise refute Mormonism. If the book of Mormon contains just one historical error or one scientific error, then it is not the Word of God. Verification and falsification go hand in hand. Furthermore, if a validly true scientific statement implies inspiration from God, then the science texts written by the atheist, Dr. Asimov, while he was still alive, was from God, as well!

The best "physical evidence" we have of modern day Polynesians being brought to the Americas would be their DNA. DNA doesn't lie. It is as unique and personal as a thumbprint. The fact is, recent evidence shows that the "Lamanite" descendents have a unique DNA signature that best corresponds with Asians, especially those who reside in China. Polynesians also have their roots in Asia, but their DNA signature indicates that they came from Southeast Asia.
There has never been a confirmed archeological discovery supporting the story of the Nephites and Lamanites (or Hagoth, for that matter). The LDS Church has carefully avoided making statements about where the events of the Book of Mormon might have taken place.
Every religion I know of has teachings that cannot be proved by physical evidence, and Mormonism is no exception. But that is the essence of religion. There are many things that are taken on faith. I applaud you for your faith and wish you well.

Here's a question-- where are the gold tablets? Where's all the civilizations that Joseph Smith said had once been in the US, where is proof of those cities? Why doesn't DNA evidence back up the "fact" that Native Americans are from the Middle East area? You insult me when you say that my ancestors lied about their origins. Anyone can write a fake book and use a few facts so it looks real. And that's funny that you have no proof to show us.
I'm fine with you believing what you want, but stop shoving it in my face.

Hmmm
could be that the Book of Mormon was written from 1827-1838 and that Hagoth was already known in the history books by then.
Just like the Book of Mormon has word for word quotations from the KJV of the bible, even the verses that was later taken out of the bible because someone had added them.

Science again fails you, my deluded Mormon friend...
In recent years, DNA tests have clearly shown that Pacific Islanders and Native Americans are of Asian descent, not Middle Eastern descent, as claimed in the "infallible" Book of Mormon transcribed 175 years ago.
More education....less watching the BYU channel for you.

Sorry dude, this just isn't enough for me. I need something more. DNA evidence that Native Americans descended from Jews would be a great start.
