As a 17 year old teen how do I start a legal foundation and/or non-profit organization?

I want to get this going as soon as possible. Even though that probably means having a parent signing the papers since I'm a minor. However, if you are a lawyer, business person, or anyone with knowledge on how to get started please write an answer. Thank you so much! You are helping me to help many others including children. Before you dig in deep, take some time to review the steps, procedures, and paperwork involved. The absolute best compendium of information on how to start and efficiently run and fund a nonprofit organization is located at the Foundation Center website.

You can start with the Foundation Center's "Establishing a Nonprofit Organization" online tutorial. This tutorial describes 12 tasks that need to be accomplished during the process of establishing a nonprofit organization, including board development, creating bylaws, filing for federal tax exemption, recruiting staff, and developing an overall fundraising plan.

Can I please suggest you find a nonprofit doing the work you want and work with them? There are thousands of good people who start nonprofits and then never do more than file the paperwork because it's so exhausting. Unless your idea is completely unique (like MADD or something), it's better to go do the work than have to try and learn how to run an organization. If you really want to learn how to run an organization, go and apprentice to someone who runs a mid-size organization. Tell them you want to learn how to do what they do: they'll appreciate your help.

lots of government, IRS paperwork, probably need money just to get it started. It's a very complicated thing for a 17 year old to try and get started with. You need to learn about grant writing and fundraisng, etc. do some research online - google

have you ever heard of "San Quentin Quail" or Jailbait? you won't manage to touch her...take photos....or do the rest until she turns 18. except you fancy some time in detention center? as quickly as she is eighteen, she is criminal, not previously. solid success and God bless.
