Human resources are the people responsible for coordinating the employment of staff in an organisation.

You went to a first interview and they have interviewed other people. Companies don't reject someone for a job, they simply take someone who is better. So it depends on the quality of the other people.

Which means that you might not even get a second interview. They have simply said, that Human Resources will contact you.

Being a large organisation they will have a step by step process. Which could involve a second interview, aptitude tests and so on. Then going into a waiting list and being contacted at a later stage.

If you want a new job, don't sit around waiting, keep applying. Gettting a job is a numbers game. If you make enough bids you will get a job.

Basically what's going on is the interviewer(s) have forwarded their recommendation to hire or not to hire you. HR continues to process your resume and sets up a time for your next interview or to set up a time for you to start. They may also contact you to let you know you did not get the job. You'll just have to wait and see.
