if poss please explain which end of each scale is best and why....memory no probs as deleting once each Cd is burned, (music being played and captured from Rhapsody)...Cheers

CD audio HAS to be 44khz
MP3s on cd's can be 48khz

The higher the bitrate the better so - 128kbps
(320kbps if you can do it)

Digital audio encoding attempts to measure frequencies (pitch) and amplitude (volume)
Sometimes it encounters signals in music that it cannot accurately analyse and puts these signals where it thinks they should be in the frequency spectrum - usually much lower in pitch than they should be.
This is known as quantization or aliasing noise
It is what audiophiles hate about digital audio

personally cd sounds fine to me but i have a few HDCD's (24bit 44khz) and they do sound better

The higher the better, always.

44.1 KHz or 48 KHz should both sound good.

I would go for at least 256 kbps or variable bitrate rather than any of the ones you listed. Variable bitrate enables the compressor to use a high bitrate where necessary and go down to a lower one when it's not needed to conserve space.

44100hz, that is the same as cd quality ,
maximum KBPS for capture

the different scales are there for choice, some recording tools prefer 48000hz,
what is it exactly that you are doing?
