The drug use could well be playing on your bipolar disorder and causing adverse effects. The best thing you cal do is talk with your doctor about everything and be open and honest about everything. The more they know about what is going on the better they can treat you. If you struggle like so many do in being open, try writing it down and handing it over to the doctor. This way he/she is fully in the picture and better able to help you. With out knowing your full history no one on here can tell you if the medication should be increased. I also take Seroquel but only 25 mg once a day at night due to a very low tolerance to medication. Its real common for bipolar people to abuse drugs and impulsive. take care good luck

Hi. I am bipolar and have been through the same thing so please don't feel preached at :)
Give up the marijuana and ask for an effective and proven mood stabilizer such as lithium.
Seroquel has only been approved by the FDA for treating bipolar depression. It has not been proven to treat bipolar mania. The feelings of anger and hostility you describe, the strong sexuality, the substance use and impulsivity are all symptoms of mania so you need a mood stabilizer that will prevent mania.
Make sure you are seeing a psychiatrist who is expert in bipolar. Ordinary doctors and most shrinks don't know enough about bipolar and the differences between the diferent meds so please make sure you get treated by someone who really knows bipolar.

no - it won't help
1) get a counselor and start working out some of the emotional stuff - that will help you more.
2) get in shape - exercise and work off some of the stress. there's a great sport called Raquetball and you can take out all your hositility on the little blue ball. Or you can take up boxing and then hit the other guy and keep hitting him until you win.
you just need an outlet - seroquel is not safe for long term use.
if you absolutely can't get it undercontrol get help -b ut try to do things first yourself
the main problem is you probably aren't sleeping well, and that's probably what the problem is.

Hi Juan:
It is not for me to say if your doc should up your Seroquel dose. Seroquel is a strong med and should not be played around with other than with your doc's orders.
You certainly have a lot on your plate and I would suggest in my opinion that if you are not in therapy that you seek therapy. It really does help.
As for your negative feelings, you need to call your doc right away for an appointment. Mention to the appointment scheduler that you are having suicidal thoughts but are not acting upon them. It is urgent that you have an appointment today, or at the latest tomorrow.
If in the meantime you are having thoughts you cannot control, you must go to the emergency room right away. They will provide you with the help that you need immediately and not have to wait for your appointment.
If you need to talk, I am usually on and you can find my contact information in my profile. Please feel free to use it at any time that you choose and for any reason.
Be safe and be well

I'd definitely check in with your doctor. And, the marijuana use really does muddy the waters as far as your mental health is concerned. It is a hallucinogen, and can permanently effect the way your brain functions. You're more likely to become paranoid and even feel more aggressive/hostile. It doesn't sound like you're on a mood stablizer, which with the symptoms you describe, might be very helpful for you. Best of luck!

If you have any doubts about the meds you should speak to your doc asap. Also that seems like a low dosage of seroquel to me - have taken it in the past myself. If you really want to feel better you MUST tell the doc about the smoking dope and drink issue as they will no doubt be having a knock on effect - I really do hope you get it sorted soon. Best wishes

You're on a low dose of Seroquel for starters. I'm not a psychiatrist, but I have a hunch your doc will increase it.
Marijuana is very iffy. For some bipolars, it helps. For others, it messes with their mind and mood.
