Every year we give a few hundred thousand work visas to degreed proffesionals. If we allow each of those individuals to bring with them at the time of entry,10 people, of thier choosing then we will have a supply od unskill laborors who are linked to a professionally employed person who can help them. They are then less likely to be exploited, more likely to pay for health care and less likely to use welfare. Additionally, these people would have little to no reason to send back money to thier families as thier families will be among the 10 people. This plan will promote college education in other countries. People here illegally will try to send money back to sponsor colege students so they can "enter" legally when that person gets a US job. The visa and background checks are paid for by the hiring company. It will save us billions in money sent back to home countries by allowing entire families to come at once and still provide a ready pool of unskilled workers.

They will be here legally. They'll have a support structure. Yes I'm sure that people will be "sponsoring" them thru college expecting a pass into the country. I can live with that. They get a college education and a professional job. Thats hardly exploitation.

The idea is to get people here through a legal system that is easier than the illegal system.

Really kids, use your heads, the numbers are negotiable. We get millions of people coming here all the time. How many were deported on the southern border last year.....that was what? 10% of the ones who came in.

Okay well just one problem with that idea. How many people who illegally come to this country do you think have family members who are degreed professionals. So under your plan you are bringing in an additional 2 million people besides the ones who are still going to come here illegally.

Ok, this idea does work as a new way to issue new work visas. It is not in any way addressing existing illegal immigrants, who in no way desreve amnesty of any sort. Where this does help in curbing illegal immigration is in offering a simple legal alternative. If congress would ever repeal the law that prevents state and local authorities from enforcing immigration laws then there might be an effective deterent. couple that with a simplified immgration code and more immigrants will choose to use legal channels. What I do like about this plan is that it limits remittances, money sent back to the home country. Money sent out of the country does not benifit our economy. If the money is spent here, then it continues to benifit our economy. It doesn't really matter if gramma and grampa don't work, as long as they buy their medicine at the drug store down the street rather than back in Guatamala.
And a bit of surprising education for those of you out there. An illegal immigrant who works under a fake social all his life can still collect his Social Security benifits as long as he moves back to his country of origin to collect his checks. My mother works for the Social Security Administration. They can commit identity theft and fraud for years and then just move back home and live like kings on a stolen pension.

Families aren't conveneintly made up of a desireably combination of skilled and unskilled laborers, so, no I don't think the scheme would help much.
Obviously, something does have to be done to make the immigration process more efficient and reduce the insentives to immigrate illegally, so that the tide of illegal immigration can be stemmed and the ports & borders secured.

Gee whiz , How many people do you think the USA can hold ?
Do you think there is enough jobs for all these people ?
Who is going to supply them with food, water, sewage, etc.?
Can you imagine the highway congestion ? The pollution?
None will have medical coverage. Are you willing to give half of your pay check to pay their coverage?
There are reasons countries limit immigration.
The quality of life for the working class will suck!
We had all think about this a little more deeply!

No, it takes too many jobs and gives far too much access to already failing services like schools. Not to mention that if they choose to bring elderly parents, our population will age that much faster and our services will be drained that much faster.
It is the overuse and ruination of our services and globalization of our jobs through immigration and outsourcing that is the 'immigration issue' needing to be addressed. It is not needing more people to come, to the vast majority of America. The fact that Congress fails to see and address the failing education of our children and health care for our sick that we subsidize for big business's cheap labor out of our ever shrinking wages and benefits is why there is so much anger on this subject.

There are plenty of people who apply each year and are turned down due to quotas. Instead of this kind of silliness, just open more quotas for unskilled laborers.
Frankly, though, with the H-2A visa and the H-2B, there is no need. Very few people, relatively, apply for these visas, although they were created SPECIFICALLY for unskilled labor such as agricultural. There IS already a remedy out there...an alternative to illegal aliens. All they have to do is apply...yet they don't. Why?

That would make it a system where, instead of being exploited once they get here, they're exploited by their country men who can become citizens. And if you look at the numbers, illegal immigrants are not even using welfare, and are still paying taxes.
Edit: even if you are working under a fake SSN, taxes are still being deducted from your paycheck, However, you'll never see it again, either in a refund or a pension.
