Most people with SSI can have a part-time job, but if you have a full-time job, you could lose all of it.

If you're getting a new job, you have to tell them how much you're making, and how many hours you're working; then, they can tell you how much you'll lose, if any.

Recently they sent me something in the mail called "Ticket To Work," they can help you find a job if you're having trouble.

SSI doesn't really cover much of anything, though, and it may be better to have a job, depending on what kind of health problems you have.

If you are receiving benefits through social security due to the death of a parent it could be different rules. You should call social security and discuss the specifics of your situation with someone to get an accurate answer. All of us would be guessing since we don't know the specifics of why you are collecting benefits at the age of 17.

Good luck.

Go to the Social Security website - it has a FAQ section and other information that might help you, or call your local SS office. Usually they adjust it based on the amount, and sometimes you can make a certain percentage without being docked money. Just go to the experts is the best advice. You don't have to identify yourself.

17 ? social security ?
Not sure , better ask the S S people how a job would affect your benefits .
And , since you are 17 and most likely in school ,
The job would be part time and small paycheck .

Check with S S .
And be proud that you are trying to work instead of just being a slacker .
You will be very successful with that good ambition .

Our prayers are with you .
