I'm sure they would have liked to, but they just couldn't get it completed in time. Assuming they could, it'd have to be done quite a while earlier, as the European campaign looked to be going towards an inevitable victory for quite some time.

Meanwhile, nobody wanted to invade Japan. Invasions of small Japanese-held islands usually tended to degenerate into bloody melees on both sides. What more with a full invasion of their home islands? It's been argued that using nuclear bombs against Japan saved more lives in the long run.

War was over against Germany and Italy before we even tested the bomb in New Mexico.

However, it was also felt that if we did drop a nuke on Germany and if it did not go off, the Germans were sufficiently advanced in nuclear research they would have been able to figure out what it was and possibly put it back together and drop it on London. Remember, the first bomb dropped on Hiroshima had never been tested! (the New Mexico test was of the second design, using plutonium. That was the same type used on Nagisaki. )

The USA didn't use the atomic bomb on Germany because it wasn't ready. Germany surrendred in May of 1945. The bomb was not used until August of 1945.

Because the nazi fascist slime had lost by the time the bomb was ready.

Japan was bombed because they refused to surrender and the US and its Allies were not going to take a MILLION casualties invading the Japanese Main Islands.

What every one has stated so far is correct. Another reason was that Japan had announced they would execute all 95,000 POWs once U.S. Forces landed on Japan. The bomb was quick and chaotic enough that it prevented that from being carried out.

it's because they made the bomb after the Germans surrendered. the Japanese won't surrender and it will mean a invasion of Japan which will cost millions of lives.
