Why is the day and time service for AT&T ending in california, starting sept 19th? I have a cell phone but I still use it for blackouts. Who even remembers day and time service or "Popcorn as it is called in Norcal"

The 'popcorn' number has been out of service in most of the Country for a long time. All that is left is parts of Calif. and Nevada. It's basically not used much, and they need the prefix for more numbers. There are so many 'auto-set' devices like atomic clocks, VCR's, DVD's and TV's that set them selves automatically, there is little need any more for this service.

That's terrible. I still call the number occassionally when a clock needs resetting and I don't have my computer on or my cell phone handy.
