I am moving to Nebraska. I live in Oregon. My 2 friends and I are moving on October 4th 2007. My friends have a small cat and a puppy. We are not leaving them behind. We have our tickets all reserved. We are taking a Greyhound bus. We thought about Trains but no train goes from Portland to Scottsbluff. It will take you to Sacramento Cali and than to Scottsbluff. But that would cost over $1000 for the 3 of us. Where as the greyhound will take us from Portland to Scottsbluff for like $200 total for the 3 of us. That is a huge difference. My question is How can we move the animals to Scottsbluff With out breaking the bank. Any information or suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you. Cassie

from the greyhound website
No dogs, cats, birds, or other animals will be transported. However, a service animal, trained for the purpose of accompanying a disabled person, will be permitted to travel with the disabled person at no additional charge.
Amtrak doesnt allow pets either

I did more or less the reverse: I moved from Colorado to Washington. My two cats came with me in the back of my Jeep. I purchased a BIG pet carrier so they could ride together; I got the rigid kind, so I could put stuff on top of it in the back of the Jeep. You can move all three of you in a vehicle for a LOT less than $1000. I stayed two or three nights on the road in Motel 6 locations; you'll probably spend about $75 a night for those. If you drive with your friends, you can take turns driving and you won't need a motel at all (or at least, you won't need three nights).

I'm not sure where you get the idea that you can travel that distance on the bus for $200 for three people; I looked on Greyhound's web site, and they charge $177 for ONE adult. All in all, I'd suggest driving.

A purebred from an outstanding breeder skill you have gotten lifetime help from that breeder. you will understand your animal's genetic historic past. in case you opt for a mixed breed bypass to the look after greater so if money is a controversy. yet you will get a companion domestic dog from a registered. With a purebred from an outstanding breeder if something comes up and you will no longer shop it the breeder will gladly take the animal decrease back.

Have you called the bus company to see if they transport crated domesticated animals? I think Greyhound does.

try and call greyhound and ask them that same question. and if they allow it then make sure the pets have their pet passports (you get the pet passports in their first shots, and its like a shot record/ passport)

Empty out your carry on luggage, but that in the cargo compartment. Put your animals in the carry on luggage.
