They are not the same. Allah has no son.
Getting to heaven via murder is akin to the Crusades in the dark ages. Islam is becoming what they have despised for thousands of years. But really, the difference has to do with accountability. Why doesn't the Islamic majority in the United Nation condemn the thousands of terrorist acts perpetrated by those of their faith? Because Muslims cannot judge other Muslims. Only Allah can judge them.
Yet when it comes to judging the infidel, there are no holds barred. They can set off bombs in buses and in markets, burn churches because of cartoons, sentence converts to death and thousands of other acts around the world--all with impunity.
Now, let us contrast this attitude with what the Bible teaches. 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 "For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges."
This is the polar opposite to Islam. The Bible teaches that the Christian is to judge the actions of other Christians and call them on the carpet if they are doing ANYTHING unbiblical. However, those who are NOT believers, the Christian is to leave alone, that only GOD will judge them.
Islam and Christianity are polar opposite in regard to doctrine. They have their Qu'ran that they must interpret and follow, and we have the Bible. Two different books, two different doctrines, two different deities.

If Christians would start calling God "Allah" then it wouldn't change anything from beside the fact, that instead of calling God " God", you would know call God "Allah"
Christians would still believe in Jesus as the son of God, and Muslims would still believe that Jesus was just a messenger..
The beliefs would stay the same, just the name for God would change..
As for your question : I DON'T think that it would bring unity, because you are still believing in the same thing, and the religious arguments between the two religions are not because of the names Allah and God..
The religious arguments are BECAUSE OF THE RELIGIONS TEACHINGS --> so since there is no controversy or problem with Christians calling God " God" and Muslims calling God "Allah", WHY CHANGE IT?

Christianity cannot even say allah without being sick at the stomach. allah is a fictional character. Jesus Christ is a God of Love, thats in the Bible, Love your neighbor as yourself. Islam kills you if you do not see it there way. If there was an allah why would he have them live in third world countrys even though they have all the oil. They should all live like Kings over there, why don;t they, it is because the worship allah and he does not exist. If they served Jesus they would be blessed like the USA.

Definately not!
The way to unity among Christians and Muslims is open-minded dialogue. We need to respect each other's beliefs.

I sincerely doubt it. While the name "Allah" is derived from an Arabic phrase meaning "the lord", I doubt Muslims would stand for Christians using the name "Allah" without first becoming Muslims.

There will NEVER be unity between the Muslims and Christians as the only desire of Muslims is to kill all infidels.
Since they consider all but those that accept the Muslim Faith as infidels this would seem to preclude any chance of unity.

See, there was a thing called the Thirty Year War that caused the deaths of one third of the population of Europe. It was recently enough so that glorification has not taken full hold.
The Muslims just have skirmishes, and don't know that forcing people into your religion is too expensive.

Of course not.
The vast majority of Christians in the Middle East say "allah" when they say God.
But the god of Islam and Christianity are different God's. The teachings in the religions are different.
The Christian/Jewish God is a personal God desiring a relationship with believers.
In Islam Allah is apart from His Creation and no believer can ever have a personal relationship with Him.
The name is not the problem. It is the very nature of the deity
