How do I reinstall and reformat my OS?

How do I do a complete reformat of the laptops hard drive and re-install the Windows OS.

put in the OS CD, and then boot from CD. make sure you back up everything you want.

Just insert the windows cd, when the splash appears select install, when the drop down box appears with "upgrade" in the windows, expand it and select "new installation".
