I am agnostic, former christian.
I see post here all the time , christians thnk that atheists are evil. Atheism simply means lack of belief in any deity, does not mean lack of morals, why do religious folks keep insisting that atheist are evil just because they do not have the same set of beliefs of christians?
I just do not get it.
Belief in religion does not make you a good or bad person.
Many atheists are warm and kind, some are not, same thing applies to christians. We are only human after all.

Solarius you might not think that but it is full of posts from christians saying that atheists are evil and they are going to burn in hell, I see it every day.

I'm a Christian. If I honestly thought that all atheists are evil, would I have atheist friends? I've spent a lot of time with atheists, and have generally found them to be moral people and not evil. I believe in God, and they don't. How does that make them evil? It just means that they have a different opinion than I do regarding belief.

You know, I really don't get it either.
But that mentality isn't restricted to Christians... you just notice it the most on here because Christianity is the most common religion in the US.
I like to use the example of the Christian murderer and the moral Atheist. Who do you think is going to hell out of the two? That just seems like a pretty clear-cut answer.

i assume I even have on no account heard all of us talk atheism that lots. In my youthful days , if human beings reported concerns of religion , they have been unsure and was hoping to be confident. Now it variety of feels that many atheists wish to transform others to their way of thinking. that's honest adequate yet all of us is human beings. Fundies get a foul rep right here and that they do no longer alway deserve this. so they have confidence the Bible .i be attentive to a pair surprising fundamentalist Christians who're beneficiant to individuals and charm and not all are so cock optimistic they meet the standards for heaven on the top of their lives. I even have worked elder care. some subject they have goofed up and that they decide for to pay attention they have not . youthful ones look greater cock optimistic and conceited approximately their very own holiness. As they age this gets stricken and trialed out of them.

I'm sorry about those that say that, because speaking as a Christian, most of us don't believe that. I've met some Atheists on this board who are much nicer than some "Christians". But in every group of people you will find a few bad apples.

Well, it's not all Christians - and I doubt it's only Christians. But anyway - theism is basically saying "Made in the image of God" - and that God instilled morals into every person (except sociopaths). But when someone doesn't believe in God (or, as some ignorant people say, reject God (but still believe) just to rebel) they 'reject' God's morals and thus reject the ONLY morals they can possibly have. Therefore, atheists are immoral people. And to reject God *must* mean they are with Satan (although atheists disbelieve in Satan too!) and so *must* be devil-worshippers too. It's all crazy junk just to make the people who believe in this feel better about themselves.

Because the innate human tendency to villify those who are different or who disagree with you is one of the only universal similarities shared by all groups of people. Christians are no different and aren't any more above such pettiness than anyone else.

That sounds plain silly to me--that atheists are evil.
Atheists are people, and I'm pretty dang sure we are supposed to show love to people around us. So.. sending you good wishes today from this crazy Christian! :D
