If I were to place myself over Monica Bellucci, I would easily overcome any of my bad feelings.

She could place herself over me and it would work just as well.

No that won't ever work.

Lack of self esteem would prevent them from voicing an opinion at all, I think.

I voice my opinions and I do believe I have more common sense than some people here, I am no better than anyone else.

People do this ALL THE TIME... so apparently it must work for them. If I tried it, I think it would just make me feel worse.

Your in phscolocy one! By putting others down saying see I am better than him we feel better about our selves.
So wether it is a racist, who hates blacks or some other race.
Or he hates this political party or this religion and his is better.
He has very low self esteem from someone being mean to him or he is a geek or freak so has to put others down to feel better about their self. Usually they are very disfunctional sexually. Do this to over compensate for this failure.

No, they just do that to fool themselves. They won't feel better about themselves until they learn to be kind to others.

It can work in the short term. Of course, if nobody believes you, you have to up the ante and you end up just looking ridiculous.
