There is little difference between the natural born aptitude of Mexicans and Americans. The Mexican economy is improving annually and all signs that if it continues it will catch up with the U.S. In terms or health, education, literacy, corruption and other social indicators, Mexico has statistics similar to the U.S. about a century ago but looks like it will converge with the U.S. some time in the future if the economy keeps growing at the current rate and they keep a focus on education. The U.S. was a relatively illiterate agrarian old-boy network at independence and it was the build up of strong political, legal, educational and other institutions gradually reduced corruption and unequal opportunity in the U.S. over the centuries. The U.S. benefited by relatively strong institutions that the English left behind after Independence, including a strong legal and banking system that make business and business transactions possible, increasing wealth. Getting fair institutions up is almost impossible for a fledgling new country. Spain didn't do the same for Mexico and Mexico had a late start due to monarchs, dictatorships, regular revolutions and sham democracies but it looks like real democracy has genuinely taken hold and the institutions are getting better and stronger. Give it a few more dozen years. You would have said the same thing about South Korea half a century ago.

I'm all for that, plus build a full scale replica of the great wall of China on our southern border. And just to spite that Mexican President, create a 10 mile wide, 1800 mile long buffer zone using their own land. How about them apples?

Even Bush needs to be reminded and not just the Democrats.
The Mexican president is making oil deals with the USA and that is why The Bush Administration is toning it words and its stance.

I just wish he was as concerned with the 40% of his Mexicans in Mexico that live on less than $2.00 a day as he is about the illigals living in the USA. Here I go gain we are being colonizing by the elite in Mexico one illegal at a time. Why does Mexico have over 50 Mexican Consulars in almost all states, 10 alone in both Texas and California, to protect the right and demand of those Mexican living in the USA. The elite in Mexico is not satisfy with holding 90% of the wealth in the hands of 10% of the people, they have their greed reaching out into the USA.

The US should stop giving them any aid until they do more to stop their people from invading our country illegally. Our mexican border is a joke as well, and we should use that money that is going towards aiding them to build a big high tech wall seperating the two countries. Put sci- fi sensors on it that trigger fatal electrical shocks that would instantly kill any foreigner trying to sneak past the wall and signal the border patrol to come swooping down in army batallion type numbers to arrest, beat, and toss his worthless hide back over the wall- if the electric shock didn't do its job and kill his illegal, American job- stealing butt first.

That's a popular stance in Mexico. Mexican kids are taught that they southwestern American states were taken by the US and really belong to Mexico.
Maybe we should build a nice big wall along the border - just to remind them.
