at 50" maybe look at Panasonic TH-50PX70
720p (better for freeview than 1080p)
Great Pic Quality
No issues with screen retention or screen burn.
2x Scarts,2xHDMI,VGA,Component
Picture Quality great
or
TH-50PZ70
as above but
1080p
SD card for photos
HD looks Great but freeview looks slightly worse
so get only if you got - PS3,Xbox360,HD DVD, or blu ray.
The other High Quality screen is Pioneer.
And people saying LCD at 50" should be shot as it's plain stupid - they must love comets.
The reason i'm saying that is big LCD's have slow response and you get comet effect when you watch football, tennis etc etc hence why Pana (the biggest CE company) only do up to 32". If you going for 26" then LCD be fine and 32" and possibly 37" if you willing to put up with some.
All the best large screen TV's are plasma's - Pioneer, Panasonic, Fujistu. Go into Sainsburys DVD's sections and what do they advertise on - Panasonic Plasma Panel. Home Cinema enthusiasts - Plasma's. Idiots (50")- LCD
Maybe 2 or 3 years down the line LCD's will be obv be better but with LCD's.
There was something I read a long time ago.
With LCD's they have to get over the pitfalls of the technology.
Viewing angle, Colour Gamaut, Response Time, Contrast.
- But the smallers looks absolutely stunning - TX-32LXD70
With Plasma
- Screen burn, Screen Retention
But latest ones don't have the problem I haven't seen any in the latest Pana's.

We are a high spec TV and Audio store. In my opinion you really need to see both in action. Its your eyes that will be viewing the screen so you need ot see which is better for you. A lot depends on how far away you are from the screen. The further you are then LCD might be the way to go but I would personally, and I have one at home, go for the plasma option. Look at Panasonic, Pioneer and for a good value entry level unit the Samsung Q97. Expect to pay around £900.00 for the Samsung. Make sure the store has standard TV going to the screen and not a demo disc or HD DVD!

Plasma has deep blacks, and that i think of an all around extra suitable image. the image does not fade while you're viewing it at an perspective. the only difficulty i hit upon is while you are going to play video games, or watch issues like CNN, the place they have the inventory ticker on the backside, then you somewhat would see shadows once you adjust the channel. i think of they are made extra suitable at present to the place they only stay there for some seconds or a pair minutes. liquid crystal exhibit's have pixels, and often you will get a lifeless pixel, which will finally end up purely being a white dot on the exhibit screen. demanding while you're spending a grand or extra on a t.v. i offered my t.v. a pair years in the past. this is a DLP. they are super too, except you have egocentric roommates like me who flow away the t.v. on 24 hours an afternoon in a desire that it will piss me off sufficient to flow out. It labored, (kinda). I moved the t.v. out. HAHAHA! I in no way have been given to observe it anyhow. the difficulty with DLP is they have lamps that burn out on them, that's why i could get mad while the t.v. replaced into left on all day. i replaced into informed the lamps could final 3 years. Mine lasted below a 365 days because of the fact of abuse. the image is marvelous on it nevertheless, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it is not a flat panel t.v. which you will cling on a wall. Plasma t.v.s are probable the terrific thank you to flow now, in case you have sufficient money to spend on one that boasts that deep blacks. there's some different issues to look out for, like if your room has a good number of organic easy. i think of plasma's will reflect the sunshine or something.
