Does anyone know of a solid driver for a not very good player for under $50? Something that will improve my game some but wont cost me a couple of hundred dollars.

Hey Steve you should try Rockbottom golf , they have plenty of drivers at Low Low prices , what they do is buy overstocks of last years and the year prior to that years models and sell them at rock bottom prices they are brand new still in the plastic and come with full warranties , I have bought plenty of these items for friends and family members , I have never had a problem with these people , give them a try you will be satisfied .

Good Luck.

A $300 new driver is worth about $50 trade-in 2 years after release. Every golfer I know has one of these in the basement/garage. Ask around, you should be able to pick one up for less than $100. It won't be "fitted" to you but your question was about value. Before you buy anything, go to several demo days at a driving range and find which shaft is right for you. The shaft is your main concern if you want something better than you have...it makes the biggest difference.

I don't know about the under $50, but look for a Nicklaus Air Max Multi Layer 440. You should be able to get it new for under $100. Spend the extra few bucks = it's worth it. That club is a great club, is very under rated and is a lot of bang for the buck.

Check on Ebay - You can get a used Titleist 983K for under $60. When they came out they sold for +$200. THis is a great club just not the new thing on the market.

I got my Callaway Great Big Bertha (1996 ish) on ebay for $30 shipped.

Spending over $80 on any club is horrendously ridiculous IMHO.

Here's a few options, it will be hard to find anything brand new and brand name for under $100. Most golf shops have a house brand that is specifically affordable, you should be able to hit them and get a good feel before you commit if you decide to go that route.
