I wouldn't charge what a daycare charges because maybe that is the reason why she is coming to you to be the baby-sitter (if that is the case) she may not have the money to pay $150-250 a week. I would suggest you guys have a sit down and decide together what seems like a reasonable price range. Also take into consideration on whether she expects you to potty-train him also. Good luck

About one year after my daughter was born, I went back to my former employer on a temporary basis until they found a new manager. We knew it was going to be just for 2 months, so we had a relative babysit our daughter in their home for $30 a day. I supplied diapers and the relative supplied food/juice/milk. A day care would have been about $60 per day. This was in Atlanta.
We came to that price based on what I learned by calling daycares and what she thought was fair also. If I were you, I would ask her what she planned to pay you and then if it seems fair to you, ok. If not, then call some day cares and calculate the daily price difference and tell your friend that the difference is too great...you don't think it is reasonable, especially if you are going to be providing food/juice. Then you tell her what you need to do it. Certainly your overhead is lower than a daycare (no playground equipment, licensing, insurance, cooks, etc.), so you should be considerably less expensive.

Well, the daycares here in N.C. charge about 125.00-160.00 a week. When your not a licensed daycare provider most people will not pay that rate.If they had to pay that rate, then they would just assume to put their child in a daycare!I also have 2 kids that I babysit, and I charge 15.00-20.00 a day during the week, and if I watch them on Saturdays, then I charge 15.00 for 1/2 day, and 30.00 for all day!I mean you can't expect parents to pay you their whole check.I mean alot of people that have their kids in daycares are getting help from the Gov. to help pay for it!Anyway, I think $15.00-$20.00 is good!Really depending on where you live I guess!

It depends on the area I would guess.
I live in the Chicago suburbs and watch an 11 month old little girl. I get $5 an hour.

i WOULD SIT DOWN WITH THE MOM AND TRY TO FIGURE OUT HOW MUCH SHE CAN AFFORD AND HOW MUCH U THINK IS REASONABLE. ALSO ASK IF SHE IS WILLING TO HELP WITH MILK, JUSCE AND SNAKS. U DON'T WANT TO BE FOOTING THE BILL FOR HER CHILDS SNAKS AND DRINKS.
