to be perfectly honest, you are not alone in wondering that because i too have struggled with the fact that i am Christian.
it was not always easy to except when i spent so much of my life believing that i was Mormon, since that is the type of church i thought for years that i was attending. i believe however, that it was something worth turning to God for in order for me to find the answers that i needed.

no one has ever once TOLD me to be a Christian. My father is pretty much a non practicing Catholic and my mother is agnostic. My brother is extremely anti-organized religion. I have friends who are Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, etc. My family, in fact, sometimes make fun of my spirituality. I chose, in every sense of the word, to be a Christian.
oh, and by the way, how do you know that we're not all right? if you've studied every single 4,900 religions or even several of the more popular one you'd realize there are a startling number of similarities. The possibilties are endless so just because I believe one thing and someone else believes another, who's to say I'm right and they're wrong. There's no use arguing over it anyway because we'll never know in this lifetime who the winner is.

It is a choice. You are born with free will, so it is up to you to ultimately decide.
I was raised one religion, was exposed to several others in my teens and chose to be a what I am today and have been for the last 20 years of my own free will.
I still read up on other religions and find them vastly interesting. I do not go looking to prove them wrong however just to better understand them.
I find most people are really a mix. They might go to a Baptist church, believe in karma and also celebrate Halloween, which has to do with witch craft.
America is a huge melting pot after all.
If you do not believe in any then your odds are 0/4,900
not that I have ever counted how many there are, I was just going with the number you quoted.

I chose to be, I didn't chose a religion until I was 12.
My family never went to church, or prayed or did anything. I was one of those odd kids who thought about God and religion and found something that suited by curiosity. 14 years later, I'm still very much involved in the religion I chose to associated with.

While I didn't study the 4900 religions you are talking about (there are that many in India alone), I have surfed through quite a few on my quest for truth. One of the biggest religions you probably left out is The Church of Evolution, another theistic cult that demands obedience or being branded heretic, no outside thought allowed.
I have since CHOSEN to be a Christian, because it is the only one that makes sense in a senseless world.
By your droning tone, it is obvious that you have no concept about what Christianity is, other than what YOU were told. OPEN YOUR MIND, and stop being so close-minded.

I chose to be a Christian, but it was an educated choice. I was visited by Jesus Christ and shown he is the one true and only God.
Therefore, if you have never had someone who told you who the correct God is then I'll let you know now, "He is Jesus Christ."
The other religions are Satan's defense to divert others away from the true religion. Don't follow him.

There's only one God so I'm 100% correct in my choice and it was my choice. I called out to God. I didn't become a Christian until I was 28. Before that, I was agnostic but really close to being an atheist.
God Bless.

I chose to become a Christian.
I was raised atheist. I got a minor in world religions in college because I found it fascinating that anybody would believe in God. Studying all the major world religions that exist today did not make me believe in God. I didn't believe in God until God revealed Himself to me.
I believe in the only God who has ever made it clear to me that He is real.
