What would a entry level sales and marketing job consist of? How much money could be made? I have 4 job offers in a bigger city about 100 miles from where I live now. Any info would be appreciated. From what I've researched these firms or groups have a lot of pro sports, restaraunt, and hotel clients.

When you work in sales and marketing you don't work in sales and maketing, you work in an industry.

You should try and choose and industry with long term-growth and one that is interesting to you.

The reason is that after a while you will learn a lot about the industry and be unable to switch easily to new industries. You will know how to market restaurant supplies, so you can't move into technology etc.

Don't worry about the salary of your first job. Worry about the experience that you will get. Will you be learning from the best. Internships pay low salaries or none at all because many people want to do this.

Understand sales is not the same as marketing. Sales people have special skills that are hard to train. Good sales people can earn lots of money because they directly make their company money, and this can be measured. Also 20% of the sales staff do 80% of the sales.

So decide if you want to be involved in sales and selling, or marketing which is more about planning (yes I know modern text books like to merge marketing with sales, but they also merge it with distribution, logistics and everything, which is stupid, marketing is just one part of the whole team).
