Every one sins, and all sins are equal. No one is sinless. The path to Heaven is through Jesus and that is the only way, according to Christians.

So, if a gay person accepts Jesus as their savior, why are they going to Hell, and why is Gay and Christian two labels that cannot be combined?

Yes, they are "sinning", but EVERY ONE sins, so what's the problem?

What about Promiscuous Christians? Do you ever look at a member in your church and think that person is going to Hell or is not a true Chrisitian, because you know they've had premarital sex?

How about Rich Christians, or any Chrsitian who desires money and a lavish lifestyle? I remember Jesus telling one rich man to sell everything and give all his money away, because he cannot love God if he also loves money.

And any Christian who has ever told a lie, and continues to lie with no intentions of giving up telling white lies?

All sins are equal, so how is telling a lie different from being gay?

Yes Towlieban, that's why I included the lies. I know most Christians are going to continue telling white lies.

That's why I also included the Christian who wants money, which is most people in society.

I included the Christian who wants money, because I KNOW none of you Christians who oppose homosexuality would ever consider giving up all your belongings to follow Christ, as the bible tells you to do.

Towlieban, you sound Proud. PRIDE is a SIN. You are not sin free. No man is sin free.

it's Victoria, you are absolutely right! That's what made me ask this question! It seems as though most Christians accept people who have premarital sex, are rich, lie, get drunk, etc., because most people live that way, however when it comes to homosexuality, because it's not normal, or rather, since they are not tempted by that lifestyle they condemn homosexuals. Why? 'Cause it's an easy sin for them not to commit?

So, you are right when you say just because every one else does it, does not make it acceptable. I'm trying to figure out is why a lot of Christians find most sins acceptable (just because every one does it), but not this particular sin.

Semper Fi! I take it you're a Marine.. I know you most likely sleep with many women! Or maybe you are married (and faithful I hope), well at the very LEAST I'll bet most of your fellow Marines do! I'll bet you never look at any of them and say they are sinning against God.

2007-09-05 07:23:47 · update #7

3, I think you are right... It's the one sin they don't have to worry about commiting.

Dear Skeptic,

You're right: everyone sins, and all sins are equal. No sin is worst than another.

If you sin and REPENT, though, then your sin is forgiven. If you lie; have sex before marriage; have a homosexual relationship; love money more than God; or do any other thing that doesn't please God... but ask Him for forgiveness, repent, change, not live that life style anymore, then you are forgiven.

Now if you keep doing the things above and think it's OK, then you are LIVING in sin. In this case if you don't repent before you die, you're not going to heaven.

Jesus said: "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." I Corinthians 6:9.

Jesus doesn't separate homosexuality from the other sins, as you can see above. Whoever doesn't repent from them, will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I think there is more discrimination against homosexuals than against liars, for ex., just because (most of the times) it's easier to identify a homosexual than to identify a liar. But a liar or a homosexual who keep practicing this sin and don't repent, are in the same situation: none of them will inherit the kingdom of God.

They key is REPENTING, CHANGING.

Hope I helped you :)

p.s.: Being rich is not wrong. What's wrong is to love your riches more than God--make your money your god (in this case the person is being an idolater and therefore, a sinner). Jesus said it was easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God because it's hard to be rich and not love your money more than you should. It's hard, but not impossible, though.

All sins are not equal.

I believe in the Bible, it lists "unforgiveable" sins. If some sins are unforgiveable and some are not, then you can not make the statement "all sins are equal". It logically does not follow.

Also, homosexuality is directly addressed in the Bible, just like many other sins, such as murder.

That's not to say that you cannot be gay and Christian at the same time. It is just saying that a gay Christian is no different than a murderous Christian or a promiscuous Christian or a disobedient Christian.

You are coming to false conclusions.

And, since when is the excuse "but everyone does it", a good enough one? I thought the point was to do the "right" thing (which, if you are a Christian, means following the Bible and avoiding/repenting for your sins) REGARDLESS of how many people are doing the wrong thing.

Ever heard the saying "what's popular is not always right; what's right is not always popular"?

Everyone Sins and all sins are equal.
When asking for forgiveness from Christ, you are saying, this is wrong, I know its wrong and I don't want to do it any more.
So, it doesn't matter what the sin is, if you continue the behavior and have no intention of stopping the behavior then you are not actually asking for forgiveness.

A sin is that which puts a roadblock up between yourself and Christ or God.

Having money is not a sin. You have to ask yourself, "What is this money doing to glorify the One who gave it to me?"

Many people belief that being Gay is a sin. I won't commit on that, but the question is not is my sin worse then others, but does God want something differant from me? Is this behavior blocking me from Gods blessings?

Yes all sin and fall short of the Glory of God. What we all need to be is Truly repentant. Jesus Died as a ransom for those who sin. Yet to benefit from that ransom we all need to strive to live up to Jesus Christ's example. If a person lived a homosexual lifestyle then repented and changed his ways (I understand that is delicate and a whole different conversation, don't hang me yet) there is no reason he could not benefit from the sacrifice. Just like a Hetero who can't keep it in his pants, if that hetero chills and repents there is not reason he can't be "saved".

Now the bible is clear about homosexuality. If you are a Christian it is simple. You live by the bible. If you don't believe in the bible or Christianity, then just go right along and live your life.

God is the final Judge.

Because I do not get up in the morning saying, I am going to sin today and I don't care.

A person who chooses to be in a homosexual relationship is deliberately being disobedient to God's word.

Yes, Christians sin. But the bible teaches, very clearly, that unrepentant, continued sin will keep a person from the kingdom of heaven. And your example of the rich man doesn't correlate to what Jesus' point was. That man made an idol of his money. Jesus was not saying one can't have money at all; Jesus was saying, whatever your "god" is, if you put it before Him, you are not of Him.

If a person thinks they can willfully sin, and not care...and think God does not see this, they are fooling only themselves. By the way, I am not saying this to condemn anyone. I am saying it out of love, and out of truth, in concern for a person's eternal soul.

Meh. People always pick and choose whatever passage they want to suit their own life. This is no different, really. So why be religious at all? Well, there are advantages to being religious. Now, this is going to sound quite offensive to the religious folk, but it really isn't my intention. Remember, as a kid, the excitement and joy you felt when you *believed* that Santa was going to reward your good behaviour with presents? Remember the fear and anxiety you felt when you *believed* that monsters were living underneath the bed? The key is *believe*. Whether Santa or those monsters actually existed is completely irrelevant. So long as you *believed* it, you experienced REAL feelings of excitement/joy/fear/anxiety. So, bridging the analogy, certain aspects of religion does have you *believe* that if you accept [insert deity] into your heart, you will experience fulfillment and happiness in your life. Whether [insert deity] really resides in your soul or not, again is irrelevant. So long as you *believe* that [insert deity] is real, and that you will experience fulfillment/happiness, then you will experience REAL feelings of fulfillment/happiness. And that's not really a bad thing, just as the happiness you felt when Santa was coming wasn't really a bad thing either. Of course, atheists find other ways to experience fulfillment and happiness within their lives.

Its not an oxymoron. The problem that I and most other Christians I know have with gay Christians is the fact that they try to make it seem that there's nothing wrong with homosexual acts and that they aren't a sin. Just being gay is not bad, by the way. It is performing homosexual acts that is bad.

I liked your question, I think (my opinion) it opens up closed doors.
Me personally:
gay-straight, humble-prideful, believer-non believer, Christian-Witch, "Love the sinner (that's all of us) and not the sin"!
If you (or anyone) choses to live a certain way that may be controversial to society, expect the consciences society gives.
If you (or anyone) lives like there is no God, better hope you're (they) right.
sin is equal and only ONE is unforgivable! But, to be forgiven for our sins you have to repent, and to repent means you know the sin is wrong. So if you know what is sinful and don't repent you can't be forgiven.

you have blurred or rather gotten rid of the line between the sin and the sinner. homosexuality is a sin (which your question doesnt challenge so i will let that be an assumption) being a Christian means that you are to leave your sin and become more like God.
so ill let you make the conclusion...

All sins are equal in God's eyes. but we must CONFESS our sins before the Lord. Gays have never confessed their sins, they are determined to live a life in sin knowing FULL WELL it is a sin. that is why they go to hell. it's a rejection of God's gift of forgiveness

bytheway, Dharmanator, God does NOT hate homosexuals and it does not say so in the Bible. all sins are equal. murder and homosexuality is the same in God's eyes.

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? ... homosexual offenders ... will not inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ ..."
