It depends on how well you work and how your reviews are. In some cases as little as 6 months, but if you've gone 5 years without that kind of promotion, I'd suggest leaving that company.

If your capability is higher than average, it takes around 2 years, if you are not promoted up to 4 years, be wise to tell it to your boz, and if you're not satisfy with the respond, get ready to leave.
