I agree with you.
About the same time as the bible was being written, Homer wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey about the Trojan War. It, too, concerned gods that Homer's ethnic group, the Greeks, believed in. It, too, concerned real places and real events mixed in with mythic places and mythic events. There is no more proof of Yahweh than there is of Zeus.
You are also right that if there was a god it would seem he could give us a sign. After all, the jews of the exodus got to see god do all sorts of signs. You would think that god could drop a bit of manna (food) from heaven on some starving area of the world like he did for the jews.

Personally, if my loved ones dies and they believe in Him, I'd be happy for them. They get to be in a place I don't for a while. I would miss them of course, but I would be happy knowing where they are and that I will see them again soon.
If you have not sensed God, you have not been paying attention. If your heart is hard, you will not feel Him. You have to WANT to find him, He promises all that seek will find, so if you haven't found Him, you didnt look very hard.
He gave ME a sign. One I understood very well. That's why I started to believe in Him to begin with, I was just like a lot of people here until I finally put aside my bias opinion and honestly paid attention. As hard as it was to accept at the time, I knew I was wrong. It's not easy to admit you are wrong over something so big, and many just can't get over their own pride, some can.
The bible predicted the future, and that's what I meant by the above statement when I started to believe. I read some where that is said "...the nations will call for the destruction of Israel, so that it's name can not even be remembered." and not 2 weeks later, Iran did so publicly. A few months later Iran did it AGAIN. There was more, but that was the biggy.
There are dozens of signs happening in the world today, you just don't know what they are. Read revelation, you will see things heading that way and a stage being set in world events. Read the signs of the end times, you will see peoples behavior heading that way more than before. Signs are everywhere, you just are ignorant of what you are seeing. If you don't know what you are seeing, how can you possibly understand it?

Many of the writers of the bible were killed in the most brutal ways after refusing to recant what they wrote.
The bible talks about real places, real events and real people that archaeology and history confirm.
The writers included information about themselves that was not flattering at times. Why do that if it is just a fable, why not make yourself look good all the time?
There is too much depth to the things that are written - Details included below the surface that no man could have possibly fabricated and there would have been no reason for them to put that detail in there at that time. Example: Numbers chapter 2. The Israelites, while journeying from bondage in Egypt to the promise land, camped in the desert every night for 40 years. That is what Numbers chapter 2 records. Big deal, right? Look a little closer and you discover that the exact way in which they were to set up camp every night was given to them by God, in finite detail. So what, right? When carefully studied, in light of the culture of that day, it becomes clear that they set up camp every night for forty years in the exact shape of a cross. It is not possible for a man to look forward several hundred years and see that in the future there would be an occupying force in Jerusalem called the Romans, and that they would create a form of execution that would utilize a cross of that exact shape to crucify the Son of God. Only God could know that.
Many other examples could be given, but one should be sufficient.
Do you think the writer of "Harry Potter", if she claimed it was a true story, would be willing to die for that claim? Do you think her editorial staff would be willing to die for it too? Do you think the publishing company staff would be willing to die for it?
God loves you.
So you're pissed at God because a loved one of yours died. That's ok. Tell God that you are pissed at Him for that. He'll understand exactly how you feel. Someone very close to Him died too.

How do we know your mother exists? I've never seen ANY evidence for her. She has never given me any sign. I think she's just a character in some book you read back in high school. In a million years, not only will Harry Potter be forgotten, but so will most every OTHER current human invention.
If you don't have a personal relationship with God, you might as well give up on finding 'proof'. Science cannot 'prove' ANY individual. And God is a Person, NOT a phenomenon.

Well I always knew he was there when I was growing up but I never sensed him nor his presence, I wanted a sign something to showforth that he was actually in exhistence. I went to cathiolic church sice I was little then around 13 years old my god father told me and my fam about the recovery which is the churches spoken of in the bible that many people have tampered with and change around in the bible. There are many of these local churches around world its named the Church in NYC, The church in Manalapan NJ and so forth. so whilt attending the meetings and enjoying them we had a home meeting at our place, the brothers said the only way God is going to be real to you is if you take him in, into your heat just by calling "oh Lord Jesus come into me ", you will sense a realization you never sensed before it may not happen right away but it will. Believe me this is a true experiience He has been real to me ever since He speaks to me through the Spirit , just by calling him he comes in!

You might be skeptical but did Harry Potter have multiple authors who had a message that was tied together so well? I doubt you've really ever read the Bible. Before I was Christian, I had no clue what was even in there! I live having faith that God is there. I don't see Him but I know he's there. I've had so many answered prayers.

I think you have a misconception on faith and religion. the definition of faith itself means to beleive without seeing. To know God, you must learn about him. How can you put judgement on a book you've never read. Its obvious you haven't read the bible, because the old testament answers the questions you are asking. The earth did see God before, but because of their black hearts they soon ignored him so he left. Until their cries of suffering rang in the heavens again, so then with great compassion, sent his only son. As for your loved ones dying, it is selfish of you to think that God takes them away from you to hurt you. Its not about you. Have you ever thought that maybe God has called them for their help in Heaven? My Grandmother is a devout Catholic and prays to be taken from the earth and enter into Heaven. We learn that Christians are not of the earth. Because Jesus is not of the earth and as Christians we also are not of the earth. We are only here to help our brothers and sisters make the right choice. Before its too late. How sad that day will be to be wrong about God's existence.
I say better to be wrong that he does exist, than to be wrong that he doesn't. It would be an eternal mistake don't you think. So before you start passing judgement on God, maybe you should educate yourself on the history and teachings.

Imagine a time before the earth was made , hell imagine a time before the universe was made!!!
Just think bout it, what was there before it, just blank empty space, nothingness,
That's the proof that god exists!!!
before time he was present and after time has ended he will still be present. that's what we mean when we call him omnipresent.
God is not a being , he is energy , a little part of which is inside all of us and that's what makes us unique in our own way and special in his eyes,
If you have read the bible some of the angels were jealous of us humans because we has his love.
Just ask yourself "Who created the universe before time and what existed before it" and you will see reason!!
"WHERE SCIENCE ENDS SUPERNATURAL BEGINS"
in my religion reincarnation is the most important concept , the concept that people die so that new lives can sprout in this world and make it their own. See reincarnation is important because when we die our soul i.e our life energy is dissipated back into the atmosphere and regenerates again to form a new soul. The process of life and death is vital to the concept of the existence of the unverse. if you wanna know more about it you know read the teachings Of Lord Buddha.

we can never know for sure if God is real. There's no proof that the Bible wasn't, as you say, just some regular book. That's where faith comes in. If you believe in something, you don't need cold hard facts and to have something right in front of your eyes to know it's true. You've never seen oxygen or atoms, but you believe they exist and are there right? And I wouldn't use the plural of we when you refer to what we have and haven't done. Maybe you haven't sensed God's presence but I feel it everyday. I can't explain it and you might write it off as crazy beliefs but I know God is always with me and I can't explain the calm that comes over me in times of need any other way than God being with me.
It just comes down to what you believe in. If you believe in something strongly enough you don't need to see it with your eyes or have some giant sign.
