"all i can tell u is get a dog instead"?? "answer man" really needs 2do some research!!!!

cats are BETTER than dogs cuz they;

dont slobber all over the place
dont need 2b walked
dont crap or pee all over the place

those are 3 things about cats that are better than dogs-off the top of my head.

as 4 the rest of answering your q.;

they live 2b about 18-they have been known 2 live longer tho (apparently outside cats dont last as long as indoor cats-i read somewhere, mayb on strangezoo.com, that outside cats only survive a few years but will last longer indoors. -i guess cuz of the traffic & poisons & traps)

when we had kittens, we just mixed the cat food w/ water 2 soften it up.

get a kitty litter box & fill it w/ sand/litter, both have been used 2 my knowledge-u can get stuff 4 caring 4 them (or any animal) from your local pet store. theyll help u better than any1 here can.

this is all i can think of @ the moment.
but in order 2 get all the info u need, u should go 2 a pet store where the experts are.

2 avoid going anywhere tho, here is a link that should help u more;

You need to do research before you get a cat. They eat kitten food until 1 year of age- then they are switched to adult cat food. They get spayed/neutered around 6 months of age. And their life span depends on the care they recieve- I had a cat that lived to be 19 years old before.

First, it might be helpful to know why you need the info. Second, you can find alot of info on the web.
Third, you can see a vet or animal shelter for first hand knowledge.
Bottom line is animals, in general, take alot of time, money, and attention - but especially kittens.

Duh, considering how many HUNDREDS of cat owner sites are up online, you can't do a simple search on google.com to find one? There's so much good info out there, and extensive, how do you think you'll get everything here in a few posts?

There's also a book called Cats for Dummies, AND hundreds of cat owner books online and at the library.
