I had a ganglion cysit removed about 5 1/2 months ago, now my wrist still hurts. What could it be?

It came back around mid December and it was almost 3 times bigger, so I went back to the doctor who removed it the first time and he said I would need to have surgery. Well, now it has almost been 6 months since my surgery and now I am getting dull, but painful, pains up and down my palm, mainly in my index finger and thumb, they sometimes go into my arm. It will tingle and after I get home from work it hurts so much I feel like crying. My mom thinks it could be carpal tunnel. I did some research on it and the signs are the same. But could it have something to do with the surgery?
