Yes in its own right it is a sin, however all sins if you read the bible, are considered equal.

Well I am an atheist, and although 'sin' is usually used in a religious context, I do consider bigotry to be a serious flaw.
Why? It stirs up hatred and resentment while acheiving nothing good or worthwhile. Bigots are presuptuous, close minded and refuse to listen to or consider logical alternatives to their way of thinking.
They judge too quickly, eager to categorise a person by their religion, skin color, gender etc.
They have little if any consideration of the feelings of other. All they wish to do is to spout their own opinions regardless of who is hurt by it.
Bigotry is the root of greed, racism, sexism and almost all hatefulness. Bigotry is responsible for wars and terrorism, pain and suffering.
I consider bigotry to be a serious flaw. If I realise someone in my life is a bigot, I try to gently explain where I feel their thinking is flawed. Some people are bigots due to their upbrining or culture and may not even realise how skewed their thinking is.
If however, I sense that they have no interest in attempting to change their way and become less hateful, I have as little to do with them as possible. They are a negative influence and I want as little as possible of that in my life.

We are all bigots to some degree. Maybe in thought only, but we all have preconceived notions. That is part of having a higher thought process. We learn that certain correlations can be somewhat reliable. I don't believe in "sin". I do think what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong, however. In a perfect world there would be no bigotry, but guess what...

It is sad that men weigh others according to looks and skin color.
Men are so ignorant, they do not understand that skin color is a result of envirnment. What I mean is if a man lives in a place where he will be affected by much more heat from the sun, his skin will be darker. If a man lives where the sun in much less of a factor, his skin will be lighter. Common sense. It is the evil hearts of men who choose to be prejudice.
We are all of the human race, mankind. Not one of us is different then the other. We all have the same amount of eyes. ears, nose, so on an so forth. More importantly, we all have a heart.
And only when men realize it is the heart that is more important, in that through faith in God's Son, the heart changes from that evil sinful nature to the nature of one who is of God, that of love..
Jesus said to love your enemies. He said, he who is greatest is least. The love of God conquers all, including bigotry, and prejudice.

The Bible says that if you've broken one law you've broken them all, and every law of God can be summed up in one - love. Is bigotry an expression of love? Of course not. So yes, bigotry is sin.

of course, bigotry is a sin-it violates both of Christ's commandments:
'love God with all you have'...bigotry is a rejection of God's creation, and as we are made in the image of God, it's a rejection of God
'love your neighbor as yourself'...i don't think i need to elaborate, it's pretty much a gimme
how bad do you think it is to break 100% of Christ's commandments?

Considering the word sin means: missing the mark...it has no depth to how much it can be wrong...it is just missing the mark..and if you are not walking in love..you are missing the mark...its that simple.

Jesus said "Love thy neighbor as thyself." He also said "that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment." He also said, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." It is a sin and all sin has one punishment. We all have to judge ourselves, ask for God's forgiveness and forsake anything that we find to be contrary to his word.

Well, since all people are bigots although few admit it, I doubt that it is a sin at all.
Btw, I dislike ALL people equally. Of course so does everyone else, although few admit that either.
