Yes, people really do believe we came from monkeys.

But does that make it truth?

Nope.

Strict Darwinian evolution creates an essential problem: how can one type of being change into another? A monkey is an irrational animal. A human being is a rational being of a higher order. There is no prototype in the known universe of a lower being changing over time into a higher one. How can a being that lacks reason turn into a being with reason? The faculties simply are lacking. The monkey lacks any inherent means of rationality. We have monkey with us today. They do not talk. They do not build cars or skyscrapers or donuts. They do not continue to evolve into human beings.

Now is it possible that man in earlier ages looked different? Sure. He may have had more hair or was slumped over more, was taller or shorter or what have you. But the "esse," the being, remains the same. He would still have the same rational faculties. He may have grown over the ages in his use of his capabilities but he did not suddenly obtained new capabilities he never had before - just as a non-rational monkey cannot suddenly obtain rationality. It is a power of the soul which pertains to the very essence of the being.

Honestly, I think to believe that we've evolved from monkeys is a severe discredit to humanity. It drags humanity down to the level of the animals. Perhaps as a whole we've become more animalistic as we've become more morally degraded. Many have acted like animals so it became natural for them to believe they originated from them as well.

No, man was a creation by God. While microevolution is believable enough, macroevolution cannot be proved but only asserted. One type of being cannot suddenly change into a whole different type of being.

You are quite poorly learned on this topic. No human is directly related to any other living primate. We do however share a common ancestor. The earliest primates suggested to being the plesiadapiforms from 65million years ago (quick reference to a 2002 text, probably something more recent available). Of course there is no one missing link, our evolution is more like a bush where there are twists and turns all over. Natural selection takes time to get a finished product. And arhaeology/anthropology takes time and we don't always get to search where we want to. There are new finds everyday, see the article I have posted. I suggest that next time you want to 'bash' evolution by pressing your views on other you get your facts straight and learn to spell.

lol *drink*

evolution doesnt teach we came from monkies.

and i have seen people that very closely resemble monkies anyway... but if ur talking about the "missing link" u could explain why there should be one. =]

im not an evolutionist so i have no answer, but i find evolution to be more logical then a god being making everything, molding a man out of dirt, breathing life into him, and then putting him to sleep and stealing a rib so that he can make a woman.

do a google on Darwin...

if we came from Adam and Eve ... then we haven't progressed much as people in that time have we? and if that's the case we probably won't progress much further either..

on the other hand -- if we evolved from apes then it stands to reason that we will keep on evolving into something more ...

which explanation gives u more hope?

If you think for a moment we did not evolve from common ancestors, you need to take a long sniff in your armpit after a hot day in the sun.

"why don't we see people walking around that look like monkeys?" For the same reason you see emus and ostriches walking around instead of dinosaurs. They died out while others survived.

Yeah, "we" thought of that.

Then we looked into it in depth and it turns out we are genetically almost identical to the other apes. That's you too, dude.

They've been flogging this dead horse since 1860. You lost that battle the same year. PLEASE learn something and try to move on. It just isn't as bad as you seem to think it is.

DRINKS.

We are animals.

Q: Where do sperm come from? They are not living until my gonads create them, thus making me greater than god, since I can create BILLIONS of lifeforms while I am sleeping.
Oh, mr high and mighty had to take 6 days to create the earth and 1 day to rest. Well, whooopideedo!

They have found hundreds of fossilized links to other primates. You just don't want to acknowledge them. But even a single one would fly in the face of the Bible story so here it is: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/09/060920-lucys-baby.html

Or maybe its because your "middle man" did not do as well as its human descendant and died off. Kind of like how God intelligently designed giant hairy elephants that lived in North America, and they died off, too.
