EDIT::: There is proof, look!
Some Bible critics have claimed that Revelation 7:1 assumes a flat earth since the verse refers to angels standing at the "four corners" of the earth. Actually, the reference is to the cardinal directions: north, south, east, and west. Similar terminology is often used today when we speak of the sun's rising and setting, even though the earth, not the sun, is doing the moving. Bible writers used the "language of appearance," just as people always have. Without it, the intended message would be awkward at best and probably not understood clearly. [DD]
In the Old Testament, Job 26:7 explains that the earth is suspended in space, the obvious comparison being with the spherical sun and moon. [DD]
A literal translation of Job 26:10 is "He described a circle upon the face of the waters, until the day and night come to an end." A spherical earth is also described in Isaiah 40:21-22 - "the circle of the earth."
Proverbs 8:27 also suggests a round earth by use of the word circle (e.g., New King James Bible and New American Standard Bible). If you are overlooking the ocean, the horizon appears as a circle. This circle on the horizon is described in Job 26:10. The circle on the face of the waters is one of the proofs that the Greeks used for a spherical earth. Yet here it is recorded in Job, ages before the Greeks discovered it. Job 26:10 indicates that where light terminates, darkness begins. This suggests day and night on a spherical globe. [JSM]
The Hebrew record is the oldest, because Job is one of the oldest books in the Bible. Historians generally [wrongly] credit the Greeks with being the first to suggest a spherical earth. In the sixth century B.C., Pythagoras suggested a spherical earth. [JSM]
Eratosthenes of Alexandria (circa 276 to 194 or 192 B.C.) calcuated the circumference of the earth "within 50 miles of the present estimate." [Encyclopedia Brittanica]
The Greeks also drew meridians and parallels. They identified such areas as the poles, equator, and tropics. This spherical earth concept did not prevail; the Romans drew the earth as a flat disk with oceans around it. [JSM]
The round shape of our planet was a conclusion easily drawn by watching ships disappear over the horizon and also by observing eclipse shadows, and we can assume that such information was well known to New Testament writers. Earth's spherical shape was, of course, also understood by Christopher Columbus. [DD]
The implication of a round earth is seen in the book of Luke, where Jesus described his return, Luke 17:31. Jesus said, "In that day," then in verse 34, "In that night." This is an allusion to light on one side of the globe and darkness on the other simultaneously. [JSM]
"When the Bible touches on scientific subjects, it is entirely accurate." [DD]

If someone says they believe in God, but they don't believe in the bible that claims to be the very Word of God, do they believe in the God of the bible?
Has your teacher told you what he means by "god"? What attributes of this god does he give?
There is probably nothing anyone can tell your teacher that will convince him that the bible is true. Many of us have come to believe the bible based upon our own enlightened study of it, not by what someone told us about it. I believe that any honest study of the bible will result in belief in it as the Word of God. There is just too much depth to it to be written by mere men. WAY too much depth! A study of the book of Numbers, Chapter 2, for example, reveals that the Israelites made camp in the desert, every night for 40 years, in the shape of a cross. Why would a man put that subtle detail in there hundreds of years before the cross became a Roman form of execution?
God bless you.

There are no FACTS that make the Bible true. If that were the case, you wouldnt have such things as non-believers if there were ways of proving it factual.
Sorry. Looks like teacher is more intelligent than you care to admit.
EDIT* Saying the earth is round is not same as saying that it is a three dimensional spherical object. Coins are round too. They are also flat, like the other mentions in the Bible of the earth being flat. Funny - when Galileo was prosecuted, they looked at the passages that call the earth flat and said he was going against God. Now that we have the FACT of it not being flat, you all are trying to look at "Round" as being proof.

You will find it difficult to 'prove the Bible is true'. God in His infinite wisdom placed Himself outside of the reach of human intelligence or reason, yet totally accessible by anyone with faith. In that way supposed wise people of the world are shown to be fools, yet those who believe in Him are shown to be wise.
It is also my experience that those who do not want to believe in God or the Bible will accept the weakest of arguments to support their disbelief, yet will ignore the strongest of proof or reason that points to God.
Nevertheless if someone is truly sincere about seeking God, there is substantial evidence to support the Bible and belief in Jesus Christ as the Messiah and Son of God. The God who created the heart also created the mind, and He expects us to use them both. You might consider reading or asking your teacher to read "Answers to Tough Questions Skeptics Ask About the Christian Faith" by Josh McDowell and Don Stewart. Another good work on Christian apologetics is "Evidence that Demand a Verdict" by Josh McDowell.

The bible says that in the end times, Christ will split the mount of olives from east to west. Recently, they had plans to build a hotel on the mount of olives but an evaluation of the land showed that there is a fault line running through the mount of olives from east to west.

No. All you need to do is describe the death sentences to homosexuals, adulterers, and "loose women" to understand that the bible is not a good source of moral guidance.
One example:
Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Nice mention of blood killing, eh? It's elsewhere, too:
21:9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.
How nice? Wasn't burning to death stopped, like centuries ago?
Not to mention the scientifically impossible world flood, Adam and Eve existing in present form and populating the planet, resurrected dead people, and talking snake bit for which no evidence exists.
I'd imagine that if a worldwide catastrophe decimated all life on earth and left only a few members of each species intact, we would all be inbred and extinct by now?
P.S. To the poster below: Bull. The authors of the bible believed that earth was flat and that heaven was a dome above the world, and god rested on the other side.
Eratosthenes calculated the circumference of the earth using twigs and trigonometry in Ancient Greece. Let's be honest, ok? There is no sense in bs-ing history, because someone is bound to fact check.

One of the problems with deciding "what is truth" is in deciding what information you will accept as evidence. There is substantial non-biblical authority for the history stated in the Bible. Archeology, other ancient writings, etc. I suggest that you ask what additional evidence that he would accept.

It is my belief that recent discoveries such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and other archaeological evidence only serves to prove the Bible as accurate.

The best fact is that that the Bible is a History book. If your teacher denies History then He sir is a fool. Its a history of the Jewish nation.

Would like to accomodate you, but even Jesus said the o.t. is not credible. Everything Jesus said in the n.t. and gnostic gospels is accurate but impossible to interpret correctly without The Holy Spirit.
