Hi,

My 3 year old is going to be "star of the week" next week. He's our first child, going to school for the first time, and he's the first "star of the week" in his class. I have no idea how to decorate the poster. And there were no samples of previous posters since he's going to be the first one.

His teacher gave me a poster board, orange on one side, yellow on the other, totally blank otherwise. It's about 30 inches by 36 inches. She said to put stuff he likes on there, stickers, family photos, info about him, etc. Then she said, "some parents really go all out with the poster."

I am not really an artistic person but I do want to make a great poster for him. What does "really all out" mean anyway? I'd like to go really all out...if I had any idea what that meant in regards to a 3 year old preschooler's poster.

:-)

Thanks for the suggestions and advice.

mari

I love doing this stuff... you are in luck. I took the first letter of my daughter's name and cut the poster board into that shape. Then I had her help me decorate with glitter, pictures, and things that she likes. A great place to get pictures are out of magazines. I included her birth month, a picture of her family (aunt n uncle, cousins, g-ma, g-pa, a pet too) Another thing you can do is take each letter of his first name and write a little something about him starting with each letter (Amy= adorable, makes people smile, yellow is her favorite color), then include pictures with each. If I think of more, I'll include... Hope these ideas help.

make different color borders with stencils around the pictures you put on them.

Put stickers all over the poster where you write the about me part.

have him help you. he can pick out what he likes, pictures from magazines, photos he likes, etc. he can help arrange them, then you glue them all down, & take his suggestions about decorations. i think it'd be a great activity to do together!
