Last week at Bristol he was 3 laps down and wouldn't move over for leader Kasey Kahne. It might have cost Kasey the race.At California he was riding with smoke pouring off his tire before it exploded and caused his car to wreck and catch fire. Some say this is all for TV exposure. He could have wrecked and taken out a chase contender.

It's sad in a way. Michael Waltrip is a very likable person but he just doesn't have the success to be excited about him staying as a driver. I don't mean to sound like I'm bashing because I like Michael but I really think he should focus on managing his team. If he still wants to race then maybe do it in the Nationwide series. NASCAR (I feel) rushed the COT and didn't allow enough testing for teams. That allowed teams with more and better resources to get ahead. It also killed the less powerful teams. Michael would be better off managing his team in the Cup series than driving. I hate it because he's a likable person but it's probably best. NAPA has been a heck of a sponsor and has stuck with Michael through thick and thin.

First off.. The CALI thing happens all the time. Drivers try and ride out a tire rub until a caution or a green flag pit stop.. Nothing new there dude!!

And as for @ Bristol.. There are no rules saying just because you are a lap down you must give the other people position on the track and not race them hard. That's like a team being down by 35 in football and just saying "Oh what the hell.. Let them run by us for another TD, It doesn't matter."

It's RACING.. I mean if you seriously think that NASCAR should warn him for not giving way to the leaders... Then you my friend are idiotic. It's racing, stop whining.

I'll give you the Bristol incident but I don't think the deal at California was his fault. First of all he was just minding his own business when he got run into. It must have knocked off the valve stem, cut the tire or knocked the fender into the tire a little. At any rate, sometimes a fender rub doesn't cause a tire failure and many times a little smoke doesn't mean you are in imminent danger. When he raced Kasey hard at Bristol that was a bad deal but the tire issue was more out of his control.

I don't think Mikey cost Kasey the race. If Kasey couldn't pass Edwards with what was 170, 130 to go, I don't remember the exact number, but if he couldn't do it in that time, he obviously didn't have the car to win.

As for California, if you watched his interview, he stated he thought the tire would clearence itself from the fender, as many tires from many drivers have done numerous times before. He did nothing wrong in that scenario, nothing any driver before him hasn't done before.

As for wrecking and taking out a chase contender, should any driver not in the chase be warned about wrecking and taking out a chase contender? That's a chance the chase contenders have to take, otherwise would you just want to see the 12 cars out there for the final 10 races?

At Bristol kane should have done the bump and run there is no rule in saying lap down cars have to move out of the way at cali it was mentioned in last post that drivers try to ride a tire rub out they just dont do it at cali most all tracks they do with that being said when is mikey gonna learn he is NOT the best driver out there in fact hes under average with all the strains of owning a team and tring to drive its not going to work i have yet to see a driver/owner do good at both he needs to hang up his helmet and focus on the ownership but thats just my opionon

Gosh, am I the only one who watched Bristol and thought that Michael Waltrip was perhaps just blocking for Junior to catch up?
And the firey wreck Sat night? He held that car against the wall so no one would get involved and when the field had past him, he pulled it down into the grass. That's a great driver.

Huh? This isn't F1. If the starter was waving the "move over " flag at Waltrip, he would have to. They WEREN'T. Check the rules.. Crap like that has to be settled between the drivers. PERIOD.

You know I can understand if Micheal was going a lap down or already a lap down but he was like what 2 or 3 laps down there was no reason for that, that is what cost Kasey the win.

I would not have moved over either. It's called racing, who cares where you are in the field, if your the leader and can't get around a laped car, you have problems.
Yes, he could have wrecked. It's called racing. Let's not get NASCAR involved anymore then we have to. They have turned this sport into crap. Where is the good racing? It died with Dale Earnhardt!!

No. It is up to the driver's to get around the slower cars. I would not want to watch a race where the rule is he's going faster than me I have to pull over??
