I have this weird dream that keeps recurring and has been since I was 5 years old :

I am in the dark, extremely aware of myself....AND the fact that there are others around me.
All I see is the stars in the night.
I cannot see the people around me, But I know they are there, and that we are forming a BIG circle, of probably about 60 people or so. I hear the crackling of distant fires. I hear the beating of soft drums. I hear "chanting", in a native tongue. My guess..it is Cherokee. (that's half of my ancestry) I've heard the language since, and it's very similiar if not the same. Anyway, a small, very short, very petite older Indian woman approaches me. She is dressed in a very formal kind of ritualistic outfit. It's beaded...and beautiful. She has feathers in her two-braids hair too, but something about her appearance leads me to believe she is more than just the average old Indian woman. But rather, someone of great importance. She is chanting the same sing-song kind of lingo. She pulls out a pouch, much like the medicine man pouches you might be familiar with. Leather bag with a draw string kind of thing. She is looking me in the eyes. She gets some kind of "dust" out of the bag, and while chanting, she throws some down on the ground in front of me. A wall of fire shaped in an arrow starts to build upward toward the sky. It's pointing directly ahead. It gets higher and higher until all I can see is a wall of fire.

Then...the dream ends.

Very nice dream... in fact, there is a temptation from your part, of fleeing from a current situation, either a working one, or a personal one. The Owl you talk to me about before, has nothing to do with the transition, its just the Truth in itself reminding yourself of this new step you want to take further, that everything has a consequence and you and you alone will be responsible for those, once it happens, if it ever does.

Remind yourself of what you really want. Nobody can decide for you, this is not a destiny or a luck streak or given by the Gods or by the Entities. You are alone on this one, and you better balance the options, before you make a decision cause it will definitely influence the rest of your life.

Hope this helps.

You are in fact right about your assumptions of the older indian woman. She is like a medicine man or shaman. She is your spiritual leader. It could very well be one of your ancestors.

You mentioned that you are Cherokee. They are often called, "The Civilized Tribe." I also know some of the Cherokee ways as some of my friends are Cherokee. But I am more familiar with the Lakota.

The pouch that the old lady had is considered a medicine pouch. It is believed that each medicine pouch holds the "medicine" needed to help protect that particular individual. It is believe to be very powerful.

The arrow of fire is very interesting. It is showing you a path/direction in which you need to go. What is unclear is the direction. Was the arrow pointing ahead of you on the ground or was it pointing toward the sky? If the arrow was pointing toward the sky, you are told that you are to follow/learn/teach the ways of your people by becoming a shaman/spiritual leader. If the arrow ran along the ground, pointing in another direction, you need to go in that direction to find your "medicine". What I mean is, if the arrow is pointing west, you need to go west and find a place in which your soul will find peace. You will know when you find it because the place will have spiritual significance to you.

I am assuming that you have already started your interests into your Cherokee culture. If not, I suggest that you may want to start. Cherokees have a very interesting history that has some very strong parallels to the Lakota. I also suggest looking into your family history, if you can. You may find who this "old indian woman" really is!!!

Associations and themes that come up for me if I were to imagine this as my dream ...

What I am aware of

What I can and cannot see.

What I know.

What I hear.

My grandmother ... a small beauty, a powerful knowing ... a "coming to".

She sees my ability to see.

All I can see is that I can now see, I have direction, I am in ascent ... I am "innocent" ...

There is a path for me, lit for me, I walk it alone and at the same time in full support of all around me, with special support from my Native spirit, my Native roots, my Natural Family.

The overall feel is of a beginning ... maybe like everyday is a beginning ... and auspiciousness and natural wonder.

(That's what I get. Seems like a wonderful dream.)

Wow, what an awesome dream, sounds very positive. I'm not Native American, but perhaps this is your guide communicating with you.... I have had dreams that I have found out more about them when I started reading a book about the 13 Original Clan Mothers, perhaps your story is in there too, my dreams were in the story about Looks Far Woman, maybe one of the other clan mothers has a story for you, Good luck....

Wow, what an awesome dream!

The earth and human beings are out of balance. Many of us are being drawn back to the traditional ways in order to heal the earth and humanity. The spirits of your ancestors are telling you something.

I beleive this is a calling for you to learn more about your heritage, and possibly study native spirituality and medicine teachings.

Fire is cleansing and purifying, as well as illuminating. Your path is being shown to you.

This is just my interpretation. Meditate on this for yourself. What do you feel when you think of the dream?
