I am nauseous about 13 hours after having eaten the sandwhich? I have cramping and don't feel so good. Anything I can do to prevent getting full blown food poisoning? (And is it really possible to get food poisoning from what I described?)

You don't have food poisoning but it was dumb to eat the sandwich and it could definately cause the nausea you're feeling. If you want to feel better take some Pepto or induce vomiting and get rid of it that way.

13 hours is not FAR TOO LONG for food poisoning. Even the most severe of food toxins (clostridium botulinum or "botulism") usually takes longer than 2-3 hours. Food intoxication/food poisoning is quite common and most people don't realize that the food they just ate had nothing to do with their sickness. that being said, your sandwich may have had some mayonnaise or other condiments that could make you sick or it could have been the egg. I have to question whether you ate some other questionable food items if you ate an egg sandwich after sitting in the heat all day. if it is food poisoning then your body is going to get rid of the bad stuff anyway that it can. If you start throwing up or it comes out the other end, drink some room temp water or gatorade for electrolytes. cold drink can upset your stomach more

I'm somewhere between positive and absolutely certain that you have food poisoning.

And you need to go to a doctor. Otherwise, you will probably dehydrate yourself and get into big trouble.

Sorry to say it Luv, but you are in for a rough few days. Even with the help of a doctor. On the up side, you will loose some weight. (I once lost 20 pounds in three days from food poisoning.)

13 hours is far too long for food poisoning to be setting in. If it was food poisonioning you would know it after about 2 - 3 hours. So at least it wasnt the sandwich.

Go see your doctor. Food that should be refrigerated, like eggs and prosciutto, should never be left out for more than 4 hours MAX. The longer it sits out, the more bacteria grow on it. You ingested millions, maybe even billions of bacteria because it was left out for so long.

It took too long for you to get sick after eating the sandwich for it to be food poisoning.

Take an anti acid pill and some tums. I don't know that I would suggest taking that chance again!

Prosciutto is a smoked, processed meat (that is: it doesn't spoil easy), eggs were most likely hard boiled. It is unlikely that your sandwich would cause poisoning.
