I want to stay at the baan haad ngam in Koh Samui over Christmas. What is the safest way to book it? Ideally I'd like to pay a deposit and pay the rest later.

I rarely book in advance - except for during peak season - but when I do, I book via phone. And I pay my deposit by into the bank account of the resort.
If you book via internet and pay in advancy by credit card, then I assume you will get your money refunded to your card subject to the resort's reservation cancellation policy.

I wouldn't be worry to book with the site below ....
not because I did it but because that is obviously a serious site.
Anyway! In Christmas, you have to book for a minimun of 5 nights and pay for a special gala (at over 3,800 bath/person). Is it for you?

i have a friend who stayed there and booked thru http://www.sawadee.com as well with no problems.
another nice option is to rent a villa. in thailand the quality is superb and you get alot for your money. found some interesting options at http://www.holiday-velvet.com
