This is bothersome to me as well. My daughter will never wear clothes like that. Most of the time, the mom's don't pay attention either out of neglect or they aren't home when the girls leave.
What gets me is, if you go to a junior department, almost every outfit they sell looks slutty.
But what bothers me most of all is all the pedophiles who go to the mall and sit on benches outside stores while they pretend they are just waiting for their wife. They are actually lusting after these girls. I know a look of lust when I see one. I'm just surprised more girls aren't attacked by the perverts who spend time watching them at the mall.
It's sick.

You're tossing in a couple rotten apples off the ground, and then say the whole bushel is bad.
Parenting is not about being a friend, it's about being a source of guidance. Short shorts are a completely separate issue, but also something we parents should be conscious of. It's unfair, however, to judge a population of parents based on the poor choices of a few. Most of us work tirelessly to ensure we are doing a good job and protecting our kids from undesirable attention and influence.

I am my daughters mother, as well as, her friend. I have always brought her up with values and proper dress, but as she grew older she has also learned that she can dress sexy. That is part of growing up and being a woman. Dressing that way as a preteen or a young teenager is not the best as most times these girls do not understand.

that doesn't really have anything to do with trying to be their friend instead of their mom. Teenage girls will dress how they want to dress and find ways to do it too. Do you know how many of those girls probably changed their clothes after they left the house? Most of them. They are just sneaky at that age and want to express their independence and be who they are. It is scary but it is just how most girls are these days, heck most kids rebel like that at some point
BTW my mom and I were and still are very good friends and I didn't dress like that.

i think that most moms that let their daughters dress trashy like that is because they do it themselves so they cant really tell them anything because then the mom would be a hypocrite. The other mothers who let their daughters do it, i guess they just dont give a damn. All around it is just plain stupid and wrong.

Just look away.
I don't let my girls dress that way
My daughters have great morals. Why do you assume just because I am friends with my girls,I am not a parent first?
The girls YOU are talking about are not being parented at all.
I love my girls and we are friends but there are boundaries in life and this includes all friendships and all relationships.
and for girls being parented by a loving mother with the "SKILL"
of a friendship with her daughter. without letting her cross the boundaries. They are truly blessed .count me in.

I will always be my daughter's friend there is nothing wrong with being a friend to your child but you have to know where to draw the line. I will always be a mother before a friend and in the end my children will thank me for that. I thank my mom!!

What exactly constitutes "Slutty wear"? Each generation has its own ideas of what is slutty and what isn't. At one time, it was virtually unheard of for women to wear pants or short sleeved shirts. They had to wear these long, heavy dresses that were stifling hot in the summer. If they wanted to go swimming, they had to wear outfits that covered their entire bodies and were made of wool. When I was a teenager, many people my age wore skin-tight pants and shirts. My parents, of course, thought it was shocking. They would try to make me wear something "more sensible". Eventually, I got tired of wearing clothes that made it difficult for me to breathe and move around in and I stopped wearing them.

While it is frightening, I don't think it has to do with a mom trying to be a girls friend, could just be a lack of guidence or some moms think that there is nothing wrong with it.
