I'm something of a military aircraft buff, and I've not heard of either the F-16 or F-15 being sold for civilian use. Both are still active duty fighters, and generally the sort of aircraft you see in private hands tend to be older aircraft - WW II, mostly, along with a very few Korean War and early Vietnam-era jets like the MIG-21 or the F-86 Sabre. Here's a nice website to give you an idea what's out there in private hands:

Now, there *have* been a handful of F-14 Tomcats sold to preservation societies and/or museums, but those have been carefully stripped of all avionics/electronics as well as weapons - Iran has a number of F-14's left over from the days of the Shah (1970s), and since the U.S. and Iran are currently not allies, the U.S. is very concerned with potential replacement parts winding up in the hands of the Iranian Air Force.

As for price...if you *could* buy and F-15 or F-16....a lot would depend on the model and package. Ballpark figure - an F-16 would probably run around $30 million U.S., and F-15 $45-50 million. Here's a list of some estimated military aircraft prices from Defence Talk Forum:

Keep in mind you will have to adjust for inflation on some of those older planes.

F 15 For Sale

"planes" Ugh..

I crewed F-15's in the AF. There are contracts with Saudi Arabia, and a couple other countries, Israel I think. But what are sold are shells, they are technically F-15s without any but basic radar and avionics package. I would suspect you are looking at between 60-100 million maybe 120 million. Now as you might realize with your car....owning is 25% of the cost. Maintenance will easily eclipse the purchase price. As I said, I was a crew chief, know how often that jet needed work? I would say after about every 3 flights you are looking at EXPENSIVE work. JFS, AMAD, Avionics, Hydro-pump....Engine, Those were the main components that constantly broke. Then you need to buy support equiptment (-60 for power tests, a Hydraulic mule, Engine borescope, Oil, grease, Liquid Oxygen.....

I mean if you are a Saudi Prince and used to spending Billions..you could pull it off...Otherwise...you might wanna rent time on a cessna at the local airport.....

Between 4 and 5 million dollars depending on what version you select.

There is no such animal, and probably never will be in your lifetime. The only jet warbirds you can buy have have been made elsewhere, because the US does not sell their models or allow those bought by foreign countries to be sold.
