I kept sneezing all day yesterday, and now my throat hurts. after my nose started running I took some claritin. -

how can I tell?

It sounds like a cold.

If you have a fever, it most likely is one instead of an allergy imitating one.

Generally, an allergy can go on for days. So long as you continue to be exposed to your allergens, you would be still sneezing and having respiratory issues. An allergy can be more serious than a mere cold; it can cause you to go into an anaphylectic shock whereas a cold would not.

You can say it is allergic rhinitis if it keeps on coming back. But in your case I think it is a cold. It usually is self-limiting.. it would be gone after a week.

Water is the best mucolytic. Just drink lots of it so you would be able to blow or cough it out.
