hmmm lets look at our role models shall we?

Paris
Lindsey
Brittney

hmmmmmm here are 3 young women who are pushed into our faces all the time.. and they are ohhhh sooooooooo responsible... trustworthy, truthful, law abiding.. right?

I could place the blame on them... but I won't. More of the blame really rests in the lack of parenting that most girls receive at this age. think about it. how many girls do you think really talk about things that are going on with their moms? not very many. Not very many get the guidance they need in order to temper their feelings and actions with empathy and knowledge.

Girls can get mean.. We ARE mean... a lot more so than guys. because we take EVERYthing personally. Guys just blow each other off if they don't like something. Girls believe everything is personal.

finally, we have all be trained since birth that we have to be the prettiest.. sexiest... glamorous.. or we will not get what we want (grades, boys, money)... the only thing we really have going for us is our looks and our ability to attract a guy. We are all in competition for the same set of boys and we will do anything to win them... its just the way we are wired.

Because these divas like to manipulate to get attention and are competitive. They are also hard to deal with because they cannot take rejection, constructive criticism and indifference. They must be the center of attention. Most of them are fake and desperate types with no real purpose in life and by not being their friend, they feel the need to shower urine on you but you probably didn't have anything in common with them in the first place. Sadly, there have always been women like that and some do not grow out of it. It is forgivable in high school but intolerable after that. If it's bad, I suggest a transfer to a private school or smaller school where this will be less distracting.

Middle and high school are all about social fear and social power. Fear that you won't be liked, or that you will end up at the bottom of the social hierarchy, and power, which you exult in when you have it. For someone to be at the top of the social food chain, someone has to be at the bottom. All this crapola you're talking about is all about trying to make sure you are at the top and not the bottom.

Don't fool yourself: boys do this too. They just jockey for power and position differently from girls. If you think i'm joking, consider this: why do boys boast in the locker room about their sexual conquests? It's a status thing.

Girls have been that way for as far back as anyone can remember. Everyone has a "mean girl" story. There is an excellent non-fiction book called "Tripping the Prom Queen" that goes in-depth to find out psychologically why girls feel they have to be so mean to each other. Hang in there!

It's encouraged behavior... the more kids act this way, the more other kids see and experience it, the more people think it's normal/okay/expected, etc.... it's a cycle. The best thing you can do is try to remove yourself from these types of gossip chains and associate yourself with nice friends who don't find joy in being mean and hurtful to others.

Because that is a time in everyones life that just sucks!!!!! No one knows who they are what they want, hormones are crazy. It truly was the most horrible experience for me. I hated middle school. But, Good news is It will pass!!!! Once everyone figures out that they are being stupid and people are starting to hate them and their life sucks worse they will eventually quit. They may be in college before that happens but, It will stop. Oh but the Gossip will never stop!!! Ever.

i feel the same way. i'm in high school now but in middle school i was soo mean.(i've changed a lot though) i'd say i did it because i wanted to be on top and the most popular. i still can't stand girls so i try to stay away from them. i hang out with guys most of the time.

People are primates. Primates struggle with each other for dominance and power over others in social groups. Watch shows about chimps and baboons on PBS and you'll start to see similarities.

Woman up!.......the world is cruel. Young girls are this way because they see you as the enemy, potential competition for everything(boys, clothes, money, ect....). You have to get in where you fit in and don't let nobody take advantage or run over you.

just wait till high school, you'll get a bigger variety of personalities and styles and eventually you'll find a girl that won't be mean to you...girls in middle school are more worried about there friends and gossiping alot, in high school they start to venture off more from each other and closer to guys...eventually when they are older they realize that they need us...so it just takes time, let them grow out of it
