My husband just signed a contract giving him a $20,000 enlistment bonus with the Navy (it is a lump sum, not 50% now and the rest later). He has already served but it is not considered a reenlistment since he was inactive for a couple years. I know for most people they have to wait until after A school and boot camp but since he doesn't have to go through that again how long should it take? My husband says it will probably be around 30 days (when we get our first LES) but I was hoping that it would be sooner. Any ideas?

it won't happen before 1 October, I can tell you that. The new Fiscal year starts then and right now the Navy has no money.
He will have to complete the indoc course up at Great Lakes first, and then once he reports to his new duty station he can put in the paperwork.

Expect 6-8 weeks at the EARLIEST.. and more likely 3-6 months. also, don't forget 28-32% taken off the top for taxes.

i say check with your husbands Personnel office. i know how it is after bootcamp enlistment bonuses. but after getting out and getting back in is different. my best suggestion is calling up personnel/disbursing office for further details on this type of question. when i was in the navy and i had money questions like I made sure they knew what was on my mind cause im not trying to wait longer than im suppose to.
