I agree with you. Thats why I don't. I tell them to find out for themselves. You don't learn anything if you're given the answer, you learn by finding the answer yourself.

What is the difference between looking up what a word means in Google and asking someone here (or someone anywhere) "what does x mean?"

I sometimes wonder why they don't look in better places because many answers here are just plain wrong. But seeking answers from others is indeed seeking answers.

So, I ask, how do you propose one will "figure it out on their own" when the question is "what is the mean of x y z?" if they don't understand yet the meaning of "mean"? Shouldn't they ask someone. If you were the teacher, and you got "I couldn't do it because I didn't understand what mean is" wouldn't you say "why the h*** didn't you ask someone - doh!"

Of course, they may not want to ask you - you'll say "figure it out" --- just a few thoughts.

Well i suppose you knew everything from birth and never needed help with anything?

Did you figure out how to write on your own?
Did you figure out how to do math on your own?
Did you, did you, did you.......no you did not so shhhhh

EDIT

You just asked "help these kids" then you say there is a difference between "asking for help and wanting the answer given to them"
Your original question said"why do people here HELP these kids" NOT "why do people here give them the answers"
Make your mind up!!!

Agreed. Many people would be well on the road to finding the answer to their question if they keyed the text of their question into google.com or ask.com rather than Yahoo Answers.

Go figure.

You never needed help? What happens when the they ask the teacher, should she turn them down too? I mean all she needs to do is tell them what to do and let the figure it out...

Please out of all the problems, you're complaing because someone helps another.
