I personally consider them VERY confused people who forgot what our Founding Fathers faught and died for in the Revolutionary War, FREEDOM OF RELIGION!!! I do have LDS ancestors who crossed the plains to the Salt Lake Valley. I have read the journals of these people who were wealthy with good lives in the eastern part of the US but literally had to run for their lives because they wanted to practice their Constitutional right of Freedom of Religion.
Yes, I know they were also fighting for no taxation without representation and everything else that the Declaration of Independence states, but Freedom of Religion is one of our Constitutional Rights that was literally taken away from the early LDS and many people think we modern-day LDS shouldn't have either.

So from what I gather your asking if "Mormons". (We now prefer LDS) hold a grudge against those who persecuted the early "saints". Well as for the persecution we stand in some pretty good company. For example Jesus was persecuted by the very people he was trying to save. They even killed him.
Anyway no LDS that I know hold a grudge against them.
Yes they were what you call them. But they will be judged by the ultimate judge (God). Yes people suffered because of them. But from that suffering came some very great men and women.

I do not have any Mormon ancestors. Therefore I don't have any journals or proof I can reference. Just what I have read and learned myself. What I do know is that people are scared of what they don't understand. Even today. People can believe just about anything whether it is true or not. Still to this day I don't understand why people hate the Mormon church so much. But I am trying hard to turn the other cheek. Hope this helps, but probably not. Sorry!

I guess it depends on who's doing the considering. I don't consider all of them murderers, rapists, child molester, thieves, or liars. The ones that killed, I consider murderes, the ones that raped, I consider rapists, etc.

Huh? By whom? Certainly not by the LDS church, though they of all people have a reason to hold a grudge over some of the worst unaddressed atrocities this country has ever seen.

They were the outstanding moral, spiritual, cultural and political leaders of the day. They firmly believed they were ridding the nation of a terrible evil. Their grandparents felt the same way about Quakers. Their parents about Indians, and their children about any other minority.

People will be judged by their actions based on their knowledge and understanding.
I think that we'll all be VERY surprised at some of the people that end up in in both Heaven and Hell.

6TH GENERATION MORMON HERE
Yes I guess you can call the persecutors murderers rapists etc....
Our people were viewed as being evil but the persecutors did not hesitate to kill our men and rape our women and children.
