I learned on ABC news that today we opened our first Arabic speaking PUBLIC SCHOOL! Does anyone seriously think this is O.K.? Does anyone seriously think that Islam is not going to be taught in this school? Has our goverment not been digging it's heels in on the so called separation of church an state since 1948? What, does this only apply to Christianity? I believe America as we have known it, is no more. She's being taken over from within. I think we may have reached the point of no return.God help us.
If you put"Arabic public schools" in your search engine you will find the news articles.

The history of America that most know is revised and slanted. Yes we are the melting pot. However when we start having Arabic language or any other language than English for that matter, public schools, we are no longer "melting", we are very simply, "dividing".

If they are not teaching religion in class, then it is not a problem.
Half the states offer the Bible as an elective course.
However, I see what you mean. I once had a Muslim lecturer come into a social history class at my public high school and explain that people went to hell for drawing realistically (I'm an artist). I do support the separation of church and state, and equal treatment for all. There should be no special exceptions to this rule, because it's unfair to others.
See why it's important for Christians to also respect the separation of church and state, so there is no government favoritism with everyone's tax dollars?
P.S. "Under god" was added to the pledge during communist scares in the '50s. I don't think it is fair.

The America we all knew? Do you mean the America where Black folks were legally not human and could be bought and sold as personal property? Or do you mean the America where citizens who happened to look Japanese were locked up in concentration camps? Perhaps you mean the present-day America where anybody with a Latino appearance or accent is assumed to be a tax-dodging, free-loading criminal.
The America I knew was founded by Native tribes and Spaniards who spoke a variety of languages. What do you suppose that THEY thought when the first ENGLISH speaking public school opened?

And that's the problem that I have with you people who claim this country as your own. This land belongs to the Original People, the only true natives. People coming over here on boats staking a claim to a place and running it into the ground does not make it theirs. All of the problems experienced here is because of those same said people who should have stayed where they were and dealt with the mess that they made of their own land before coming here and doing the exact same thing. This country was overrun by immigrants and English was the language FORCED upon the natives. Don't criticize what has already been done by your ancestors.

All cultures in all continents are spreading out. In the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the number of students taking Cambridge University Exams is also increasing, and so is the increase in Religious Madressah Schools(Muslim seminaries where the education, boarding and lodging is totally free). Asker may please not lament. It is a healthy sign of globalisation. US Civil Society is reputed for its tolerance of all cultures.Nothing will change the US Values.

"It is absolutely not a religious school and no one has any intention of teaching religion." said Shamsi Ali, imam at the Islamic Cultural Center in Manhattan, who served on an interfaith advisory council for the school.

I don't see the problem as long as the school is regularly checked to make sure that Islam or any other religion is being taught.

You're absolutely right. What's doubly disturbing is that Islam's main goal is to conquer the world by any means necessary, and they see the west as heathen to be gotten rid of. Now they're setting up "schools" here.

Who cares? If you don't like it, don't send your kids there. And no I doubt Islam will be part of the required schooling.
